But Bane and Catwoman mixed with a murder mystery? Bane wouldn't really fit into that would he? There's not alot of room for that.

And reading DV it was always spooky that Gilda suddenly disappeared after the events of TLH and was never heard from again.

I always thought that was one of the defining aspects of TLH. It was like a splinter Loeb left in the minds of the fans. Fans are still in disagreement.

Thats what I think made Loeb so badass, was his cliffhangers. The worst though was with Hush. Had it actually been Jason Todd instead of Clayface, it would have allowed Hush to be the actually epic story it was meant to be. I have a feeling that after death in the family DC wouldn't allow Loeb to bring Todd back. Until after the response to that issue was so huge that they brought in a crappy writer to actually bring him back.

Just a theory of mine that thats what was actually supposed to happen in Hush. Elliot was supposed to actually die and not return. Hush would be Todd's returning from the lazarus pits.

TLH though always makes me think that gilda was left a mystery for loeb to possibly comeback to.

I really hope he has this:

I thought it was silly though how he used a baby bottle nipple as his makeshift silencer. As if that would make any impact at all on the sound.

I don't know if they will do the Holiday story or not, but if they do, remember...

There were two holiday killers.

Just food for thought.

Probably not. I see Alberto just being there to keep up the mob end. Just as big of a role as Carmine and Sal had, basically. Not exactly minor, but still sidestream.

Besides...Ruger already makes internally-suppressed versions of their .22....

You figure someone like him would have access to one.

Since Gilda was the original Holiday she didn't have access to a silencer so fashioned one for herself (silencers don't cancel out most of the noise anyway. the bottle thing would probably dampen it as much as a silencer would. and if not who cares its a comic book). It became Holidays "thing" and thus became Alberto's "thing" since he wanted to take over as Holiday completely.

I'm done being skeptical of Nolan for his casting choices. I think I had a shred of doubt for Heath and we all know how well that turned out. So I can't wait to see JGL in TDKR, maybe he can bring over some of the suits from Inception...

I always figured this trilogy as the magic trick-segments in The Prestige:

BB is the Pledge: the setup
TDK is the Turn: the self-explanatory denotation
DKR is the Prestige: the effect of the illusion is produced.

it's crossed my mind too

Am I the only one here that wasn't all that impressed by THE LONG HALLOWEEN? It just seems that everyone raves about it & I've never understood why, as I found it empy & unfulfilling. I'm not putting down anyone elses taste, I'm just curious to know if anyone else feels this way.

Seriously guys what is with all the Black Mask love? I get he's been a major Bat-rogue in recent years (before y'know...getting himself done over by the cat and all) but he isn't exactly THE GREATEST BAT-VILLAIN EVERsss. Choice between Pengy and the dude with the skull rubber mask? I'd choose the Pengy. Heck, I'd give that wooden dummy more of a fair choice than him.

Love the Prestige analogy. I could definitely see that. That Nolan, always taking us back to school when it comes to writing a structured story (or lack of one) :awesome:

Devin is sticking with his scoop of the TDKR plot (Talia/Bane vs Batman/Catwoman). He added this when he reported on Variety's scoop about JGL's role:

http://bit.ly/eOkY6d

My source on the plot of The Dark Knight Rises told me that Levitt's character would sow some chaos in Gotham before Talia Al'Ghul and Bane show up. It's going to be interesting how this character factors in, and whether or not they're going to use the Holiday Killer side of him in the film.

Apart from not wanting the LOS and Talia in the film I also don't want that plot summary to be true just so both Jett and Devin are proven wrong and get egg on their face.

Devin seems to have taken a lot of interest in this "serious" superhero movie.

Not very sporting of you, good sir. People on the opposite side of the fence could say the same thing about the other side. But as of yet haven't, as fas as I can tell. :o:cwink:

Granted, doing the Holiday storyline seems like it might be overkill, but I really think that JGL will have a bigger part than Eric Roberts, who was just there to act like a sterotypical mob guy and provide the audience laughs with his ridiculous hair.

If Talia is in this I'll officially be kind of disappointed.

Agreed, I think Alberto will have more substance than Maroni did at any rate.

I'm calling it:

In contrast to the Joker and Two-Face (and even Scarecrow in retrospect) selectively destroying the mob, Alberto will be on a crusade to eliminate the freaks. He starts off with the bounty on Catwoman's tail. Bane also factors into this since he is known to manipulate the rogues gallery (or the freaks), but they will probably not work together at all. Batman is considered a freak himself, and thus the biggest target for Alberto, while a viable menace in Bane's eyes and therefore his biggest target. Bane is responding to the core theme in TDK: That Batman inspires the criminals he is fighting. Bane seeks to break that unholy circle. The irony might be that Alberto in the end becomes the freaks he's been sworn to oppose, while Bane realises that he is just as reactionary a manifestation to Batman as the Joker and Catwoman.

Does this seem to betray Alberto's original characterisation as someone who angrily struck back to his family and thereby bridging the difference/devolution between mob and freak?

I actually would love it if things breakdown that way.

Good post.

This is an awesome way for it to go and probably the reason why Nolan chose Falcone over Sinois: Falcone has a real strong reason to hate the freaks and batman as they took away his father and his empire away from him. It could make for an interesting character trying (and failing) to live up to his fathers legacy (which if Talia is in the film will definitely be a main theme).

Thanks :) the amazing fro has this idea that Bane would be somewhat of a personal threat to Batman. If this is the case, I wonder if his aspirations to replace our hero would also contrast with Two-Face? In it that Harvey was a replacement Batman sought for, but in Bane it would be exact opposite.

I know I'm being to reliant on the character dynamics from TDK, but with a sequel one wonders if certain things are carried along and expanded.
