Judd Apatow Producing The Third Pee-Wee Herman Movie!

Wow, Judd Apatow is busy as a producer these days:

- New Pee Wee Herman Movie (Paul Reubens)
- Bridesmaids (Kristin Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph)
- Wanderlust (Paul Rudd)
- Business Trip (Leslie Mann)

At least he's expanding his crew of actors with these films.
Just look at the list of movies he has his named attached to produce.

  1. Untitled Aziz Ansari/Randy Project (details only on IMDbPro)
  2. Untitled Aziz Ansari/Jason Woliner Project (details only on IMDbPro)
  3. Let's Do This (details only on IMDbPro)
  4. Untitled Sherlock Holmes Project (details only on IMDbPro)
  5. Pure Imagination (details only on IMDbPro)
  6. Attorneys at Raw (details only on IMDbPro)

So this is the dirty version of Pee Wee? I remember he had a dirty stage act prior to the show

I AM SO EXCITED!

Pee-Wee's Playhouse is still one of my favorite TV shows ... And I think that Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is Tim Burton's best film. Yeah, you heard me.

Pee-Wee Herman is a fascinating character because there's no definitive version. The original stage show by the Groundlings Theater Group was a spoof of children's television with a lot of adult humor. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure presented the character as a man-child. The TV show was everything the stage show was making fun of and presented Pee-Wee Herman as a legit children's character which is a 180 of the original intention by the Groundlings. It was at this point that people started complaining that Paul Reubens had lost his mind. Big Top Pee-Wee kinda proved it. People always say they hate it, but I don't think they remember the reason. It's because Pee-Wee was a jackass. He starts the movie with a girlfriend, which is strange already, and then cheats on her with a circus hottie. WTF? Then, there's the Pee-Wee Herman that Reubens uses to promote the work. There he pretends that Pee-Wee is a real actor whose playing himself in all these projects. That's probably the most surreal interpretation of the role.

My guess is that the new film will present another version of the character, or for nostalgia sake, replicate one of the older ones. Hopefully, they're not crazy enough to attempt another Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Without Phil Hartman's humor and Tim Burton's vision that's just asking for failure.

Ruebens should play "The Hamburger Man" from that Cheech and Chong movie. It was a crazy schizo version of his Pee-Wee character.

This weekend Pee Wee Herman hosted the Sturgis bike rally. He is going to be on Jay Leno tomorrow night to talk about it and hopefully the film as well.

I love how he always stays in character :D

God, I did a double take because I thought that picture was from the 80s. He has aged very well.

sweet!

so Reubens will indeed still play Pee Wee

i've read in certain sites that Pee Wee was going to be played by that dude from Sorceror's Apprentice

glad it's not the case

Ruebens has always been Pee-Wee because it's his baby; he is Pee-Wee and Pee-Wee is him. Heck, he played Pee Wee during his huge hit LA Live show earlier this year.

So it's strange to hear a rumor like that because it makes no sense.

Glad that rumor wasn't true, completely interested in this. He's liable to do anything with it and that's what make Pee-Wee interesting.

I'm always looking up the latest news on him(he's on facebook a lot). So if anyone's wondering:

Pee Wee was recently on Regis and Kelly this past Tuesday, he and Regis took a tour of NY and the only thing mentioned was his broadway show. He was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last week and he did mention that he will go to work on the movie after the show finishes which is in Jan. He will be on Rachel Ray next Friday the 29th. And lastly he is currently featured in W-Magazine.

I swear, he needs to get Jim Parsons to do a cameo or something. Them both onscreen at the same time would be surreal as hell to me.

Reubens is cowriting it with Paul Rust so I think Apatow is only getting the ball rolling type thing. I certainly hope Paul Reubens does not feel the need to obligatory insert Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen into the film.

And Pee Wee will NEVER age! He's like Joan Rivers.

As long as they do their own things- I don't want Apatow to force them into a Pee Wee Herman movie.

Imagine it being another road movie like Big Adventure but out of nowhere Pee Wee meets this cop played by Seth Rogen who bogs down the entire movie with bad jokes and won't get off the screen. Seriously, that's what happened in Superbad. Was it necessary for Rogen to take over the entire film?

Sheldon does look a lot like him lol

Paul Rudd and Jason Segel should be in this movie somehow. Out of the Apatow Company of Actors, they seem to garner the least hate on this forum.
