Judd Apatow Producing The Third Pee-Wee Herman Movie!

Shoot in the spring?? That's so soooooooon!!!!!!!

After 'Smurfs 2,' Paul Reubens looks to a Pee-wee-filled '14
Steven Zeitchik said:
The actor will stay busy regardless of his status in Smurf Village. Reubens said that a director has been chosen for a long-gestating Pee-wee movie (Judd Apatow has been on board to produce), though he declined to identify the filmmaker.

And though, yes, we’ve been hearing about this movie for the better part of three years, Reubens said he believes that the script is ready and financing has come together. The movie, he said, will likely shoot next year, continuing a comic tradition that many of us '80’s kids remember well from “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

Also on tap is a new TV show -- potentially though not necessarily an update on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and its menagerie of Conky the Robot and other sidekicks. Reubens wouldn’t offer more details but said an announcement was “imminent” and that the show will be on the air in 2014.

“Short of something unforeseen like the studio going out of business, I think it’s very likely both these projects will happen next year,” he said.

Reubens, of course, was out of the public eye for years after some, er, PR troubles, before bringing “Playhouse” back as a stage show in Los Angeles in 2010. If your dose of the bowtied-one back then wasn’t enough, he said the stage show -- which also played on Broadway -- is being discussed for a longer-term run at a touring location.

All this Pee-weeness has put the actor, now in his 60s, in a happy state of mind. “It feels great,” he said. “I woke up one day and said it’s time. This is what I want to do next.”

New Film The Final Moments of Karl Brant Explores the Singularity

I remember watching Pee-Wee back before Reubens got caught with his pee-wee (hey someone had to mention it). Not sure that it'll still fly in this day and age though. Even then it felt campy.

me + news about a lot movies coming out or getting greenlit = mystified.

it's getting to the point where i feel like all the studio heads are thinking to themselves, "hey, this project isn't a new or original property; THUS, IT IS A GOLD MINE."

i mean, seriously, a third Pee-Wee movie? a Blade Runner sequel? what is going on?! before i could chalk certain things up to commercial viability or whatever. now i feel like i'm living in bizarro world. i guess that's better than blando world, but still. ish is getting cray cray.

oh yeah and A MUMMY REBOOT?!?

i wonder who the new Brendan Fraser is.

I think a Pee-Wee movie could work under the right conditions. It's been a huge comeback for Paul Reubens since his LA/Broadway Pee-Wee show.

I used to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse when I was a kid. The movies were pretty good. Not sure if this could work out. I think it's hit or miss.

Judd Apatow Says New Pee-wee Herman Movie Could Be Coming "Soon"
Kevin Jagernauth said:
A few years ago, it seemed we couldn't stop hearing about a new Pee-wee Herman movie, with both producer Judd Apatow and star Paul Reubens continually teasing about the brewing project. "I would give anything to tell you right this second the plot of this movie because I'm so excited about it and it's so phenomenal and you would laugh your asses off if I told you," Reubens teased at SXSW in 2011. "But I can't tell. I begged Judd Apatow to let me announce it here and I don't know why, but he doesn't want to do that yet."

Well, the man himself has let the cat kind of out of the bag, while speaking recently to students at Loyola Marymount University. "We're pretty close to getting that going," Apatow said when asked about the project. "We've kicked around a couple of titles. 'Pee-wee Takes A Holiday'—that was one of them. But we have a great script that he wrote with a friend of mine, Paul Rust and I think we're probably going to get to do that soon."

Of course, "soon" could be anything. If Apatow is going to direct, it'll have to wait until after his forthcoming "Trainwreck," which shoots this summer for release next year. But it seems more likely he'll stick with this role as producer, which certainly opens up the opportunity for the Pee-wee movie to move a bit more quickly.

However it shakes out, it seems a Pee-wee Herman movie is still on the horizon—are you looking forward to it?

Tim Appelo said:
In addition to his long-delayed Simpsons debut, Apatow says he's directing Amy Schumer's film Trainwreck, "a romantic comedy between Amy and Bill Hader from Saturday Night Live," and a film written by Paul Reubens and Paul Rust, tentatively titled Pee Wee Takes a Holiday. "We're pretty close to getting that going," said Apatow.

If they keep that title, my ticket is bought.

I can't believe Paul Reubens is 61. He looks great.

Rewatched Big Adventure recently and it still holds up. Was a big fan of the movie as a kid, and one of the few movies I still love as an adult. Really hope if a sequel does happen it is done in the same vein of Big Adventure. Any chance Burton directs again?

New PEE-WEE HERMAN Movie is “Imminent” According to Paul Reubens
Evan Dickson said:
Reubens told Rolling Stone:
“There’s going to be a big announcement any minute now. Yes. It’s been months and months of being right on the verge of being announced…I thought something was going to go public yesterday, actually, and that you’d be the first person I’d be talking about this with. But I’m thinking there will be something made public very soon. It’s going to get made shortly after the new year. I wish I could tell you about it right now, because…I mean, it’s amazing. It’s going to be amazing. It think it first got leaked four years ago or so that the movie was going to be made, and ever since then it’s just been stalling and stalling. So I’m really ready for this to happen. But I’m not kidding: It’s very imminent.”

Holy s***. The dude looks like he's 40.

I just looked at his mugshots. When he was 40, he easily looked 20. When he was 50, he easily looked like he was about 30.

Paul Reubens: New Pee-wee Movie Starts Production in February With Judd Apatow
Lorena O'Neil said:
Paul Reubens didn't have his bow tie on when he stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, but he did have an update about Pee-wee Herman's return to the big screen.

"There is going to be one," said Reubens, when asked whether he was working on another Pee-wee movie. "And I was hoping I could make this huge announcement tonight, but it's a week away, I think, from being announced."

Paul Reubens Announces New Pee-wee Movie

Glad for him. It's crazy to think how awesome and popular his show was. Those were the days.

The Big Adventure film irked me when I was younger I found it creepy but I guess that's what you get when get Tim Burton to direct it, I am hoping he might return..

if the movie is hit with Netflix, it wouldn't surprise me if they consider doing specials or even bringing back the old Pee Wee show
