...Ebay scams like this happen all the time...there was a very popular case back in 2000 when the PS2 came out...and some guy, looking to get one for his kid when they were sold out all over the country...went on Ebay...bid high, and got an empty box...as the ad clearly stated...PS2 Box.

Basically, a women posted advertised on ebay she was selling 2 phones. It was listed as weighing 4 ounces on her advertisement but in the fine print it stated she was selling only the photos of the phones which is what the mother and daughter got.

The Judge awarded $5K to the plaintiffs after threatening the defendant by saying she was going to call child services and the IRS to investigate her.
