I wonder if they have plans to make sequels to this considering many think that the plot line is already thinning out.

me too. I think the only way honestly, to do a sequel. Is make this such a disaster that the government pretty much demands some of the specialist (like grant) return to the island, to figure out a way to end it all. I think keeping nostalgia of old cast members returning may be the only way to keep people interested.. because nostalgia otherwise will be gone after this film. You can't keep hinting at it via visuals in a sequel.

I'm hoping we get another night time rainy scene with some Dinos. We've had nighttime rainy dino scenes in all 3. Another staple of the franchise I'm sure they'll put in again.

maybe the plan would be to take out the carnivores? i mean.. it's not like the herbivores are actually hurting anything or anyone (though i wonder how that river canoe thing works... that seems a bit of a liability even for herbivores hanging around...

I want this, too. Rain and wind in a jungle is a good atmosphere.

What sort of liabilities? The herbivores getting spooked and stampeding?

Imagine a scene with the D-Rex in the dark rainy jungle, disappearing in the dark with it's camoflauge. Badass.

Having spent some time in the wild the thing people should know is that herbivores are actually deadlier than carnivores.

When I was on the Nile, no one cared about the crocodiles. But the hippos? They are mean, territorial mother****ers.

Rhinos and elephants aren't much better. And we all know what bulls can do.

Meanest animal I ever encountered in the wild? A ****ing swan.

well... to be fair, they're massive animals... even a dolphin can kill a person. What if a brachi wades into the water and steps on a canoe? or flips it over?

what if a steggo get's spooked and starts impaling guests? animals are unpredictable... a zoo won't let you into a pin with Giraffes and Elephants.

oh i'm quite aware.. which is why im kinda shocked how unrealistic the canoeing is.. but they don't hunt. they attack when frightened or provoked. You could easily turn the island into a nature preserve with just the herbivores and it basically be a "visit at your own risk" for nature lovers and what not.

Maybe they're paying the government, and those guests that don't take the bribes get turned into the humanoid dinos from the older concept art (and play a major role in the sequel).

Yeah, now that you mention it, I recall how that steggo flipped out when Sarah got too close to the baby.

I would imagine like a Rhino, they would probably charge you if you got close.

But if they are treated like zoo animals, they might be more docile.

Jurassic Park struck me more as a nature reserve than a zoo though.

indeed, plus what's to stop visitors from getting out of the canoe and wanting a closer look?

the gyro balls, the safari truck, and the monorail make far more sense than the canoeing... that just baffles me.

The whole thing about the mosquito collecting specimens that lived millions of years apart, in different parts of the world (many not even in the Jurassic period) kind of bugged me even as a kid.

Pretty sure there was more than one mosquito. :cwink:

Certain things like the canoeing down the river I think just are best left alone. No need to over analyze or break it down for an explanation. It's basically being shown in the film for a brief cool moment on screen. To show a beautiful contrast of the humans being with the animals. Overthinking it will just drive you crazy. Just enjoy the visual of it.

Can't really help it. I'm actually more shocked it's not the "River Raft Ride" that was spoken about, but never shown in the first film, and duplicated at the Universal Studios parks

I hear ya fair enough I guess. But I just choose to not drive myself too crazy with stuff like that. I just enjoy it for what it is. A really beautiful scene and visual.

I will say even though it was a pretty lousy movie, the spinosaur was pretty cool. Sure, in real life it can't kill a t. rex, but it's like a monstrous crocodile...

Be great for a calm surprise attack scene.

Just imagine, you're on the water, and then you see that spine just slightly protruding out of the water...

I imagine there is a guide with the kayakers. To both keep the guests on the river and to call in case of emergencies. Plus I keep going back to the book where Dr. Wu had plans for a more domesticated version of the dinos.

Of course, I wonder what is still in the restricted zone. You can see it on the big screen in front of Bryce Dallas Howard if you pause the trailer.

And yes, Swans are mean mother #####.

What stood out to me, as far as safety concerns go, is that the monorail apparently goes over the mosasaur tank. Couldn't it snap that thing up if it wanted to?

I often wondered if flipping things around a bit might work. Instead of having people be the ones in danger have it so the dinosaurs are the ones in trouble, have some type of virus infect the island which starts killing the species off - a second extinction. That would give justification for people to revisit the island again to try and find the cause and cure in an attempt to save the dinosaurs. 'Jurassic Park: Extinction' or something along those lines.

I think that would be a good move. Infected dinosaur carcasses washing up on beaches, etc, and scientists having to sort the issue out.
