Does anyobdy believe that report about the SHIELD agents who are appearing in the movie?

Like X-Men 1, and X2, and X3, it would be so easy to cast some character and give them green hair and say they are Agent Brand, or cast some guy and say he is Agent Clayton or something. They wouldn't have to have big speaking parts and could even be recast in later films with bigger actors like when Ellen Page was cast as Kitty Pryde. Its very possible, you might even watch the movie and see the agents and not really know they are meant to be anyone in particular and in the credits they will be credited as specific SHIELD agents.

I'd love for them to ditch the MIB style getup and go for old-school figure hugging Steranko-style S.H.I.E.L.D. outfits.

Probably never going to happen as I figure that the 'Black-ops' guys like Widow and Hawkeye will be the ones that get to wear them as they not only double-up as varients of their own costumes, but they also differenciate them from the standard S.H.I.E.L.D. guys.

I agree BB. They definitely need to get more creative with the SHIELD unis. SHIELD agents are just as much characters as Hydra so why not come up with a look that resembles what we have on the printed page?

i figure the agents we seen now are just dressed to not stand out, they are more casual. in the avengers they may have a new commando style since they will be fighting some huge threat and have to be soldiers instead of going on recon like in the other movies. they went to talk to stark in iron man and in iron man 2 they went to do some work not any major lifting. in thor they were doing recon and quarantine, so now in avengers they may be full on commando style.

Been thinking about the comments made in this thread over the last few days. I totally agree with whats been said by all parties on here - especially the need to see a more interesting and creative outfit for the agents [that resembles the comics] as well as the idea that the MIB look being purely for fieldwork invloving the general public. It's struck me that the outfit BW wears in IM2 [although it is a nod to her own costume] is also itself a strikingly similiar variation on the classic S.H.I.E.L.D. bodysuit, ala Steranko, albeit is with darker colours:-

So I wouldnt be adverse to that actually being used as the basis for the S.H.I.E.L.D. jumpsuit, although I concede that it would kind of 'dilute' BW's own look.

I did notice that the Acura promotions did have guys dressed as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents wearing more milirary-style garb so perhaps as a compromise to keep Widows look unique, they could merge the two to create something more in keeping with what we seen in more modern times (tighter material in the upper body but looser utility style for the bottom):-

As long as we have Fury, Duggan, Widow, Culson and Hill im good. You can always save the big wave of agents for when the Fury film comes out.

Not a big wave... but other than Black Widow and Hawkeye (Who'll be Avengers) Nick Fury, Phil Coulson and Maria Hill. I hope we have about 4-6 other named SHIELD agents.

I think SHIELD could add a significant chunk of coolness to this film that not everyone is expecting.

I remember how cool it was when Marvel went all geeky on us and unleased the sonic-cannons on the Hulk in TIH; I'm hoping that we see more tech in the same vein used by SHIELD.

I'd love to see an LMD or two. Actually, I think they coudl even have a reference to the development of the LMD or something - it could then have some kind of connection with the creation of movie Vision in the sequel.

I actually would like to see Carol Danvers as a SHIELD agent. Have her exposed somehow to the Cosmic Cube or other cosmic force and knocked out. Maybe as a cliffhanger or part of the epilogue, she starts to exhibit powers.

The Avengers need some more women on the team. Wasp might be in the movie (that's what I heard from someone that saw storyboards) or at least a sequel. But Ms. Marvel would be a great, powerhouse addition to the team. And we know Whedon likes strong, female characters.

Interesting quote from Smulders re: her S.H.I.E.L.D. outfit (said this a couple of months ago but I've only just seen it - cant beleive it hasnt surfaced on here before now to be honest):-

“We start in April, which is like… tomorrow. I literally leave here and I go to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to shoot some scenes in a catsuit… I’ve tried on portions of the catsuit [and] I’ve seen conceptual drawings of what they want it to be. It’s fascinating to me. I feel like wardrobe becomes very creative on these types of movies because they literally spend weeks designing just the pants or the emblem. It’s such an all-consuming process, so I’m excited to see how it all turns out.”

I can see them giving here a similiar suit to that worn by Johannson, only without the individual BW touches.
