One thing that has always puzzled me is just how "American" is the Justice League of America. Can you only be eligible for membership of the JLA if you are a US citizen by birth (Batman, the Flash, the three Green Lanterns) or by naturalization( de jure in the case of Superman, Wonder Woman, the Martian Manhunter, de facto in the case of Aquaman(who appears to have inherited his American citizenship from his father)? Are you duty bound to give due consideration to the wishes and desires of the sitting President and his Administration? If so, does this preclude working with heroes/heroines from countries that are not on friendly terms with the US historically(as opposed to traditional allies of the US such as Israel, UK and other NATO member states-NB I realize that security considerations preclude taking a Russian or Venezuelan super hero into your confidence fully but surely this doesn't preclude an unofficial working relationship)?
