Just How Much More Wasted Tech Can 'Sony' Cram Into The 'PS3'?

You're obviously just saying that because you can't afford a PS3 :o

OBVIOUSLY. :o

........OR AN EXTRA 55" HDTV, OBVIOUSLY. :o

..................OR TWO HDMI CABLES, AT ABOUT $80-$100 EACH, SINCE THEY AREN'T INCLUDED WITH THE CONSOLE. :o

If the price stays the same as it was before they decided to include (or re-include since I thought it originally had 2 HDMIs) then I don't really see the big deal. Yeah, you will probably never use both, but you aren't paying any more for the extra one.

And I highly doubt the price of 2 HDMi cables at about 100 bucks each is of any concern to someone who has 2 1080p televisions side by side. Something tells me they can afford it...

EXACTLY MY POINT THOUGH.........HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU THINK FIT THAT DEMOGRAPHIC?

Not many, but it doesn't hurt the other demographics by having 2 HDMIs. If they increased the price more because of this, then I would say it's stupid, but they didn't, so the majority of the people got something they won't use but it doesn't cost them. And the few that can use it will be extra happy.

I wonder how long before we hear the news about the Japanese whining about the "other" version of the PS3 not having 2 HDMI ports & then Sony responds with saying both versions will have 2 HDMI ports because they felt sorry for the people that are buying the "other" PS3

I give it a week or 2

If they keep doing that, why keep the $600 machine around in the first place? More HDD space that you'll never use?

Since they'll only have about 900,000 to choose from this year, between several million, they'll probably buy neither. Or a nice alternative.

The HDMI port on the low end model is a good thing, even if it won't be used by the majority, it means that both versions are fully fool proofed against flagging. So now the only disparity between the two is the Wi-Fi, and memory card reader.

Hello low end PS3, here I come.

yeah the expensive one really is for the people who need everything. dual monitor surport does have it's uses and more computer orientated people might take up the offer. since it could allow internet on one while gaming on the other. ken showed of stuff like that at the PS3 announcement before the 2 HDMIs were droped then came back again.

NO! NO!

Dammit now because of this comment I don't know which one to get:( I have a good amount of money saved up for the PS3 so I can afford both and get a game but I'm not sure which PS3 I should get, why do they have to make 2 diffrent consoles:(

I think only like 1/10th of the launch machines are the $500 unit, so I doubt anyone here will be getting that one this year. That's the one I'll buy eventually though.

There is a strong rumor going around that they did it just to torment you. Of course this was reported by the same people that said all games would be $85, so I wouldn't put too much into it.:woot:

LIZARD, just go for the cheaper version. You're not getting much benefit for the larger, and the console is already overpriced enough over here.

Buy another game with the money you have left over. A few Blu-Ray DVDs.

The only way I'll get a PS3 is if I win one.

And that's a longshot.

I have a few years to wait before it hits about $200 :O

2nd HDMI port is apparently bogus. The rumor was started by some crap website looking for attention.

Oh well, it's not like I would actually use it, anyway.
