I know, we already have a director for the reboot (Webb) but I believe that if we want Spider-Man done right, talk to JOSS. Sure he's directing The Avengers and rewriting the script for The First Avenger: Captain America, however if there's someone who can revitalize the Web-Slinger, Whedon's your go-to guy.
Here's a list of things that Joss can bring to the table:

Here's a list of things that Joss can bring to the table:
Dramedy- Joss is known for creating a mix of drama and dry, caustic wit. That would mine the emotional core of the character. As Peter Parker, he's a troubled individual who struggles to fight to atone to his life's one, great mistake, but as Spider-Man, he's a carefree, happy-go-lucky figure who exacts more enjoyment from life than he ever does as Peter.
- Strong, female characters- Joss' forte when it comes to epics. Problem is, there aren't much butt-kicking girls in Parker's supporting cast (aside from Black Cat). So make them have great inner and emotional strength. For example, use the Ultimate version of Aunt May (strong, independent mother figure). Another way is to give Mary Jane a sense of strength while being a damsel in distress. Or for female butt-kickers: Black Cat, Jessica Jones, Firestar and Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew).
- emotional compelling action sequences
- giving characters their "moments"
- big time superheroics, big time action, big time characters
