Personally i loved it, i miss stories like this. Sure the story wasnt very complex but it was a simple fun spiderman story. We dont get 'fun' stories like this anymore, every story now has to have this complex, shocking plot. Maximum Carnage showed what spiderman was all about, saving people. Plus no matter how many people carnage killed, spidey refused to murder carnage. I loved it, what do y'all think?

i didn't like the ending, but overall, i agree, it was a very fun arc.

I thought it was more serious than fun, nothing much seemed to happen for a long while and some of the artwork was atrocious. It's a mediocre, overhyped arc.

One of my all time favorite cross over stories. It got me into collecting at that time. And really got me into collecting Spidey.

It was such a good story they made a 1/2 decent video game out of it.

some people don't agree, but oh well we likes what we likes.

There were so many good things with that arc. Only complaint, too many cameos!

Mary Jane got on my nerves but overall, it was a great story.

Well, its whinney MJ. Who cares.

They actually made TWO half-decent games......Maximum Carnage and Seperation Anxiety.

I thought it was a total blast!

I also dug the way Peter made a choice and stuck to his guns through and through.

And what fan of Captain America didnt cheer when Cap showed up to lend a hand?

One of my favorites.

**** man I forgot Cap was in it, its been so long since I read it. You're good:up:

i haven't read the whole thing yet
but a part of me had to smile when i saw Cap lend Spidey his hand

This story always gets such a bad "vibe" from alot of Spider-man fans. I don't know why though. I loved the story and it's easily one of my favorite Spidey arcs. It was just a blast from start to finish. Yea I know it did drag on and the plot wasn't exactly the most "complex", but It wasn't trying to be that. Honestly, this story should have been Carnage's fare well. It was a fitting way to go.

I hate being the dissenting opinion, but....

I hate this story. I think it was awful and the beginning of '90s crap. This was made simply to sell toys and Carnage is a terribly flat 2D character and was created merely to turn Venom into an anti-hero. The entire story reeked of mediocrity. And after this story we got the Clone Saga, Identity Crisis, Final Chapter, MJ "dying," the seperation and it was just the start of what I consider the worst run in Spider-Man history (though there were a few good and some great stories in between these horrid arcs).

Albeit after the unmasking and The Other and Sins Past it looks like this era which started STRONG may end up giving it a run for its money (to think JMS went from Coming Home to The Other is mind boggling in some respects).

Just my opinion though.

i agree that ASM has been on a bad track nowadays
that's why we can look to Maximum Carnage because it was better than most things going on

This was around the time that I was collecting Spider-Man seriously. I remember picking up Spider-Man Unlimited # 1 off of the rack. That cover with Spidey swinging and the big Carnage in the background. There was just something about that cover that captured me.

It was phase two of making me a hardcore Spider-Man fan.

And the video game is the cats pajamas. And that Green Jelly theme song. :ghost:

But, man, is that game hard as hell. It took me FOREVER to finally beat the game. :spidey:

Carnage at the end of that game is HARD. I mean screaming at the television and breaking things HARD.

Seperation Anxiety was based on the comic series with the same name. Not Maximum.

Yeah this was the beginning of where whiney MJ came into major play among other probles that the fans picked up on over the years though.
