I saw Wanted at a pre-screening today (June 11th) in NYC at the Loews on 84th and Broadway. We were told this was the first screening for the film in the country.

I didn't read the comic.
I know nothing about the comic.
Don't ask me how it compares.

I can, however, tell you one thing...THIS MOVIE ROCKS. HARD. Seriously, it was a damn entertaining film, full of crazy crap and awesomeness. That's how I describe WANTED: pure awesomeness.

Ask away.

I bet they are really bad guys aren't they....

how are the other four heads of the assasin clans around the world protrayed?

Yes, there is a twist, though I realized it the moment
Terrence Stamp
showed up.

Other four heads of the assassin clans? That wasn't in the movie, sorry.

So, how would you review Wanted? What are its strengths and weaknesses?

how long was it?
how would you rate it against the other blocbusters of this summer?
is most of the good stuff in the trailer, or are there plenty of surprises?

I'd say it's maybe an hour and a half, perhaps a bit longer.

It was such a fun movie, with plenty of "OH!" moments. Though some of the best stuff is glimpsed at in the trailer, you need to see the whole scene to see how awesome it actually is.

I was just as much entertained with Iron Man as I was with Wanted. Though they are a bit different, they were both incredibly fun films.

If I had to pinpoint one particular element that made Wanted stand out (other than the fantastic action sequences), it would be Wesley Gibson's voiceover. I don't want to ruin it, but it's great.

I'd definitely rate Wanted a 9/10.

how much screen time does Morgan Freeman get?
how was McAvoy and Jolie's performance?

The closing scene in the comic has really nice and pretty much insulting (to the reader) monologue.

It's about how the person reading the comic is just a loser like Wesley used to be and the last shot is of Wesley's face with the caption addressed to the reader "Here's my face as I'm ****ing you right in the ass!".

Is there anything like this with the ending of the movie?

All the performances were damn good. Morgan Freeman has a fine amount of screentime, I suppose. Certainly more than Lucius Fox.

The ending monologue is VERY similar to that, Nidopal, although not exact. It's the same message, though.

cool...im definalty excited.

i see this being the best R film of the summer...lol but thats not saying much

Wow... comparing "Wanted" to "Iron Man" - that's high praise! That's EXACTLY what I was hoping to hear; I really, really want this movie to live up to the promise of that red band trailer!

How did the special effects and stunts in the movie hold up? "Matrix"-level of coolness, or do they fall flat? I love what I've seen of them in the trailers so far (like that guy getting nailed with the computer keyboard, and the keys spelling "F--- YOU" in mid-air); I'm hoping they hold to that level throughout the movie?

The SFX were damn good, and there was only one moment where I thought, "well, that's CGI."

I would like to clarify one thing: I think Iron Man is a better movie, though Wanted is just as entertaining. I feel that Iron Man has something that, for me, just hits closer to home.

That said, Wanted is still KICKASS.

I know you havent read the comic, BUT...

Does the name 'Mister Rictus' pop up anywhere? =)

1) Any female nudity? :o

2) How many action sequences were there?

3) Did all the exciting parts get spoiled in the trailers already?

Is wesley a bit evil like the comics when he learns what he can do.

Performances are very good. Not over the top (at least I think so).

I can't recall any mention of a Mister Rictus.

Female nudity? Jolie's ass.
I really wasn't counting the action sequences. Enough is the answer I'm going to give.
The trailers haven't spoiled the movie, don't worry.

Oh yeah, Wesley starts to get a bit of a dark side (but only a bit).

Thanks for the comments so far - it's been fascinating!

Something else I'm curious about - the new red band trailer had a quick shot of an ATM telling Wesley "you're an @$$hole"; I thought it was hilarious. :woot: It's the first time we've seen any sign of HUMOR in any of the trailers. It actually had me a bit worried with the earlier trailers, because although the action is awesome, I don't want to lose that wry humor that Mark Millar has sprinkled in his work. Does the film have more of that sense of humor to it, or is it serious all the way through? And if it does have that Millar style of humor, does it work for the film? I'd hate to think of this thing becoming some sort of goofy joke-fest... it's a tough line to walk!

The movie is hilarious! If you liked that bit with the ATM, you'll love the rest of the comedy. I'd say there was just as much dry humor as there was action.

Though that may be pushing it.

Okay, so I read 'Wanted' over the weekend.

While I enjoy both the movie and the book equally, I can't help but KNOW that, had the adapted the comic faithfully, the movie would have been SO much better.

But it's still good. A word to the die-hard fans: don't expect an exact translation. The concept is there, but the execution is quite different.

i had a question because my friend and i have been debating it for awhile

wesleys gun is it an H&K USB or a Beretta in the car scene it really looks H&K like and i think it is

do they ever say or does anyone just know?
