Coming hard on the heels of where heroes/heroines get their costumes in the first place is what do they do with them when not otherwise wearing them. Like any item of apparel they need the odd good wash, right- but you can hardly hang them out on the line with the rest of the laundry. If they frequently wear them under their ordinary clothes( as most male heroes but few female ones do if only because a costume is easier to conceal under a suit/sweater and jeans than under a skirt/dress-Susan Richards apparently makes her FF uniform invisible under her "normal" clothes,) they must get pretty sweaty( even Iron Man's padded and air conditioned armor must have the same problem). Some heroes such as Captain America keep things like their shield in a special pouch in their portfolio just Tony Stark keeps his Iron Man armor in a secret compartment within his attache case. Wonder Woman and Thor probably have the ideal situation upon magically twirling around or striking a cane on the floor, their "ordinary" clothes are instantly transformed into their costumes!

Anybody else think as I do?

Power Girl said it best. Wear it under everything except for a bathing suit/coctail dress occasion. Some people store them in their briefcase.

Sue Richards is publicly known as the Invisible Woman, she doesn't need to hide her uniform.

Yeah, yeah-but there times whenever"out"heroes/heroines prefer not to wear their costumes-such as going to the supermarket or their place of worship!

Have you ever tried to wear a dark costume under a white buisness shirt. never mind the Cape!!!

Superman buys extra thick shirts. His own X-ray vision couldn't see through those threads. ;)

Superman also lives in a world where people can't see Superman behind a pair of glasses. ;)

True.

Oh, and Superboy puts another shirt on over his 'costume,' since his costume literally only consists of a shirt and whatever other normal clothing he happens to have on.

To answer the thread title, I sure as hell hope that they wash them.

Well, I'd imagine that they'd get wrinkled in there.

Wonder if the Joker ever runs that purple suit by the cleaners.... eh. And if so, I could see a new issue of Batman staking out at the dry cleaners waiting for clown face to get his fresh purple lapel, and whamm, nabbed him. I call it. Joker Gets Cleaned..... with a back story at the end on Animal Man, lol.

I remember an issue of Spider-Man shortly after Aunt May found out his Secret ID, she washed his costume and put some fabric softener in with it and he smelled so downy fresh the cops noticed and complimented him.

:hehe:

Gen13 (and probably others) have "flash suits" which are basically teleported on them Power Ranger style.

You know, it's never brought up....

Weird. I thought Gen13 were basically homeless and on the run.

I have no idea of their current status. I just know they had the flash suits at one point.

Namor basically wears his suit all the time and says to hell with keeping it secret.

Power Pack also have it easy. Their costumes are stored in subspace and switch places with their street clothes whenever they call for them.
