Granted some heroes don't need to eat right in order to keep in shape(Hulk, Thor, Hercules, Wonder Man could probably all chow down on toxic waste and gargle with hydrochloric or even sulphuric acid on a daily basis), but others such as Spider-Man, Captain America and Daredevil who were not born with their powers do have to exercise and avoid things like drinking, smoking and eating junk food in order to stay in tip top physical condition. ( Of all Marvel heroes, only Wolverine is regularly seen smoking a cigar-but as we saw in an X-Men story, where Kitty Pryde(Shadowcat) tries to do so but gets sick- he can do so, due to his mutant fast healing ability as he himself points out).
Heroes such as the X-Men and Avengers are often seen working out in a gym but we have no idea as to what they eat. If rock or film stars such as Madonna or Angelina Jolie have to watch what they eat in order to stay in fighting trim(fulldisclosure: ms Jolie has apparently dropped to 96 pounds!), then why not heroes whose job means that they must be on a peak of physical fitness beyond even Olympic class athletes far less film or rock stars!
Any ideas?

Lots and lots of Superburgers...

Well the Flash has to eat large amounts of food as his speed power burns off energy faster and so his metabolism is greater he needs more food to fuel him.

Read New Avengers #33 to find out. FYI, Luke Cage likes cookies.:cwink:

I'm sure people with enhanced strength and agility also have some aspect that keeps them in decent shape...

ultimately crimefighting burns a helluva lot of calories so i would expect them to be on a carb heavy diet like pasta like professional swimmers do.

lots and lots of carbs

All I can remember off the top of my head is Jarvis filling a bucket with food for She-Hulk.

Chicks that eat from buckets rule

The watch tower has a cafe...so I guess anything really.

Probably something similar to my or jaguarr's diet.

Doubtful. Luke Cage goes through many bugers at a time. Spider-Man's been seen eating whole boxes of donuts in single sittings. Logan's diet is less then healthy. I could go on.

Those superheroes are special cases as they have augmented metabolisms. However Cyclops, Gambit, Iceman, Angel, Colossus, Green Lantern, Batman, DareDevil, Punisher, Green Arrow, Robin, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Zatana, Dr. Fate, and most others are going to have to obey more "human" diets.

However if we're talking about eating a lot of food, I consume about 500-600 calories in a meal...and I do that about 6 times a day.

They have to eat normal foods...for people in training of course.

Daredevil has been shown to chow down on some junk food with Cage; Iron Fist has also been shown to overdo it on Chinese takeout, again with Cage (he must be a bad food influence).

Also, there's nothing to suggest that Cage has an augmented metabolism, although Peter does.

Athletes don't never eat Junk food...I had Pizza last week. They just do it seldomly. If you expect DareDevil to perform at the level he does and superheroes to maintain the bodyfat levels shown in the comics, they'd have to obey a pretty strict diet....and stay almost completely away from saturated fats and starchy carbs most of the time.

Cage has superhuman stamina. The only way you could achieve such a power is by manipulating someone's metobolic functions.

Dude, this is comics. Nothing's scientific.

The question of the thread was "What do superheroes eat", so I was answering that question. So, yes, their is a science behind answering that question. I can look at someone like that and tell you what he or she would have to eat.

Right. Because there's a specific diet attributed to using special powers. :whatever:

Yes. If you expect those heroes to go by the designations given to them (Athlete, Trained Human, Peak Human, etc.) then yes there is at times a very specific diet.

If you want, for example, to be an Olympic gymnast, like DareDevil...specific diet.

If you want to be a soldier of fortune like Punisher or a vigilante like Batman...specific diet.

If you want to be adept at using tactile superpowers like optic blasts, a power ring, or some energized weapon or choice...specific diet again.

Diet is the single most important component to anyone looking to compete in a high level of athletics...very few can get away with sloppy eating habits.
