Justice League Justice League Box Office Prediction - Part 3

I really hope we do see Apokolips and Darkseid. If not in a JL sequel, in a separate film or later on when the DCEU has...recovered...

F*** it, bring him on in one of the MOS sequels, I can't wait too much longer.

As someone pointed put at BoT, Justice League's entire Domestic boxoffice might be lower than the Avengers opening weekend. If that doesn't scream that WB needs to hard reboot, I got nothing then.

Darkseid can carry a movie by himself + his parademon army. In his stead, JL1 should have featured all his lieutenants:

Steppenwolf
Kalibak
The Furies
Granny Goodness
Desaad
(cameoing G. Gordon Godfrey screaming on the TV there's no HOPE anymore)

No parademons. Just those guys. Now we need another film doing 4th world setup because this movie achieved nothing.

I really hope not. WB have had a good year otherwise.

They have but the problem is this

King Arthur: 150M loss
Geostrom: 100M loss
LBN: 75M loss
The House & Chips: Around 40M+ loss
JL: Pending

WB could lose a half a billion dollars this year so basically all the IT money will be used to recover those losses

Would've been sweet, I hate when movies let awesome potential go to waste.

I wonder if they'd have the guts to do a New Gods movie.

On the other hand it would be a huge risk and expensive as hell. So no, not anytime soon.

Right now it would be suicidal but in 6/7 years, who knows.
They will have to avoid other big disappointments of course, but they do not even need a miracle streak.
Iron Man 2008, GoTG 2014
Shazam 2018, New Gods 2024 (?)

If this comes under 95 millions, can we all finally agree the audience didn't like BvS?

Can anyone think of a more dramatic box office drop from one film to another in the same series? We're looking at a 45% differential from BvS to JL.

Snyder is already out. So maybe with YEARS of rebuilding, and talented directors the DC brand can be built back up. But Kevin Tsujihara needs to get the boot as well.

You'll be hard pressed to find it, because no sane studio gives a movie with as sour a reception as BVS a sequel the very next year...if at all.

Some will try to blame JL’s Frankenstein nature instead of Snyder’s last movie, but it’d be a very weak argument. BvS was hated. Hence the steep drop off. This was always going to happen... though I wasn’t expecting such a huge rejection.

I figured even a bad JL could crawl to 300M. This is just... history being made.

Neither did I.
Will they learn?
Third time's the charm?

JL just keeps plummeting. I remember when I thought 130 million was low balling. Geez never thought JL would end up being the DCEU's first sub 100 million opening weekend!

This is as close as you're going to get to directly asking people. It's a straight up rejection of what WB have done.

Yes, agreed. The Thursday night previews number are badddd. WOM was not in effect yet. The reason it was so bad was people got burned by BvS just a year before. On top of that the marketing for JL was complete and total garbage. No hype whatsoever.

On the strength of what we’re seeing, this movie is heading towards flop territory. It possibly won’t even make what MoS did. The hit WB will take both financially and reputationally is huge. This is what happens when you keep betting on the wrong horse.

But... but... the audience score on IMDB and RT! :o
Feige's emails!

This is like the reverse MCU right now. Instead of The Avengers paving the way for a stronger Phase 2 and now even stronger Phase 3, BVS followed by SS followed by JL has effectively killed the DC brand for a very long time. All of the myriad movies they were so eager to announce are in grave danger.

Marvel has proved that building goodwill slowly is the way to go. Just looking at the universe they've built, and how WB can't even put up a decent Justice League movie, is baffling.

They stumbled all over themselves, just jamming anything and everything in BvS. They tried to build the universe in one movie. And BvS failed on a massive stage. It became the butt of jokes. They thought if they could just get to Justice League they’d get Avengers type money. As if all you had to do was slap a Justice League label on it and billions of dollars were guaranteed.
