On Twitter, Beall said that he started working on the JL script in 2011. Then in September 2012, he said that he had finished the first draft and had handed it in and it was in the studio hands now. (Then at the end of last year he left Twitter!)

I see. Wonder what made him decide to leave Twitter. Was he too active with it or something?

Let's hope they bring somebody else in...

Man, a script penned by Dwayne McDuffie could have been awesome. :csad:

I don't know, but he was quite active and he was getting a lot of questions from Justice League fans, many of which he answered. And he seemed to leave when JL news was heating up again towards the end of the year. Maybe it was too much for him or WB told him to stop talking about it so much!

:funny: Alright.

Another thing is maybe he realised he should spend less time tweeting and more time working on the script!

I'm worried too. I mean, Gangster Squad had great characters that so much could've been done with if there was just more substance and backstory given to them. From Sean Penn's character to the Gangster Squad characters. I don't know why they just wanted to dive right into the plot without us getting to know these people better. And, as I said, the same thing could happen to the JL members. It's going to be hard to relate to these characters not only because it's an ensemble movie but because it's these larger than life superhero characters, most of whom haven't been given origin/solo movies yet. That's why I hope there's no rush to this script and that if more work needs to be done, they get a director and team that can sort that out before shooting and trying to make the 2015 deadline.

I hope that the actors that WB do hire have on their contracts 3 JLA movies and 3 solos.

WB isn't smart enough to do that. If they bring back Cavill and/or Reynolds, they'll just exercise the sequel clause in their original three-film contracts. (It's cheaper and more convenient, but also makes it problematic if WB wants to do a third MOS film, they'll have to renegotiate a new contract for Cavill.) And whoever ends up being part of the League, like WW or Flash, will end up signing three pic deals.

and why not? both are very good screen writers and know the genre quite well

They really need William Peters or Michael Zinberg to redraft and re-tool and apply the necessary manual aesthetic changes to the scriptment in due process. Make it a proper screenplay and a proper script. These two guys would be the best for the job

Nah, let's just rely on our handy crutch Jonah. :D

:o

They'll probably add in some teenage goofy crap. It worked for Kick-Ass but this isn't Kick-Ass. And that's what killed First Class for me. They had a great concept and did great things with Magneto, etc but when they added in the annoying kids who either tried too hard to be bad-ass or funny, it ruined it. Thats why im happy he's not doing the sequel for X-Men.

It's like Vaughn and his partner feel the need to appeal to the younger crowd with their comic movies. So no thanks.

maybe because those films had teenagers lol just like the comics did

this film will not

Who's choice was it to write them in when they could have focused on Magneto and Xavier? But that's not my point. My point is that they'll probably start writing in childish crap into Justice Leagues script so it can appeal to everybody.

I prefer another director, especially if that director is going to do re-writes.

Because it's a movie about the X-Men, not Xavier and Magneto.

The Justice League doesn't have young characters, or require them as the X-Men do. Simple as that.

It was mainly a Magneto origin story that was changed when they added in a bunch of teenage mutants. And they went overboard with it. That tells me something about their tastes and how they would change a script. Especially another comic book adaptation.

The movie was planned, from inception, as the origin of the X-Men, with elements of Magneto's origin added to the story. If anything, it was mainly the origin of the X-Men that was changed when they added a bunch of Nazis being hunted by Michael Fassbender.

It's not Vaughn's doing, and it's not bad either.
