JGL would have better been serve as the Riddler.Hahahaha @protocida
Ultimatehero made some good points, but my personal preference is to reboot Batman in JL, use John Stewart or recast, and keep Henry Cavill. I love JGL as an actor, I wish he played Dick Grayson, I'd be on board with him as Batman, but not a made up character for the movies like Blake. If JGL werent Blake in TDKR I would like the idea of him playing Bruce Wayne
I agree...GLII practically or finacially, doesn't make much sense, and the studio and investors will not risk shooting a sequel in this BO climate in Hollywood, nor the overall economy. As said, Green Lantern fans wouldn't like what I have to say. But it was the kind of performance that would have and most likely did get somebody fired.
So, other than saying "you're wrong." Show me one thing that shows people liked the Green Lantern film or that it had a good box office run? Just one thing.
If it's financial patterns...
The Amazing Spider-Man made less money than Spider-Man 3.
Wolverine made less money than X-Men 3.
X-Men: First Class made less money than Wolverine.
Ghost Rider 2 made less money than Ghost Rider 1.
Batman Begins most likely made less money than Batman & Robin when inflated.
Green Lantern 2 would quite clearly and quite obviously make less money than Green Lantern 1.
And if Green Lantern 1 was considered to have done really poorly at box office? It's sequel would be the titanic. GL is no different from every other hero out there. In fact, currently, on film - he's worse than a lot.
As said - executives would run away the other way at even the mention of Green Lantern 2. No other heroes they wouldn't do that for because they have no idea yet what they can bring in at box office.
-----------
As said, the only logical explanation would be that they're keeping everything in-film universe. It is what makes Green Lantern a logical choice. That he has a prior film made about him and that JLA will be based around all these characters having had prior films.
With that said...I thought it was stated that Cavil's Superman would be the starting point for an eventual JL film. That means, previous incarnations of both GL & Bats will not continue in this universe being started by Cavil's Superman. So it's a mute point. They are not going to push JGL as the new Batman; and, Ryan is done. [...] Strong, I'm sad to say, like Dylan Baker, will never get to reprise his role as the lead villain.
Well, WB has elected Kevin Tsujihara to become CEO of WB, effective March 1st.

Will that change the direction they're going with JL or not?

Well someone just got themselves added to the Bleeding Cool Power List.
After a long and tortuous battle of the senior execs, Kevin Tsujihara has been named the new Warner Bros CEO.
Given the strength of the TV unit, many expected it would be Rosenblum. Robinov wasnt expected, he didnt so much fit in with future of the company as trans-media. But will they create a special gig for Robinov in the next few weeks or he leaves around Oscar time.
Kevin used to be ex-DC Publisher and President Paul Levitz go-to guy at Warners before the reorganisation as DC Entertainment. He respects the company and its assets and trusts the gatekeepers, though whether he considers rival Warners exec DC President Diane Nelson as one of them, is yet to be measured
But basically, DC is safe in his hands. For now.
Robinov currently has authority to green-light movies. Tsujihara said it was too soon to say whether Robinov would retain that authority under the new structure.
I think they were all jockeying for the CEO position, so the fighting should stop now that one has been appointed.Hopefully Kevin Tsujihara becoming CEO of WB will stop all the infighting and jockeying for position within the company.
If that's the case, then I can't wait for JL... because MOS is going to dominate this summer. Then again, it should have been common sense that WB was waiting on MOS results.Stakes are high for "Man of Steel." Other than Nolan's Batpics, Warners has not been able to effectively exploit the DC library. Its 2011 "Green Lantern" underperformed, and a "Justice League" film wouldn't likely be in theaters before 2015, as Warner's top brass has indicated that they are awaiting the results of "Man of Steel," which opens June 14, before moving further ahead.
