Del Toro should do a Green Lantern with Idris Elba as John Stewart.

I dont think that the Jl have to get together first on earth. And Apokips is not too big for a JL movie-I mean this is the freaking Justice league. You need an INSANE threat to challenge this guys since they are all practically gods.I mean Superman alone is apparently powerful enough to take on an Avengers scale threat in the new movie. So yeah you REALLLy have to step it up for JL.I don't know about JL going to Apokolips in the first film.
If they do use Hal again, I think Jason O'Mara is the best choice out there. He might not have the name recognition of Cooper or Pine, but he fits the role SO well.

Not really-all it takes is a good writer. As for why they go offworld it cld be for any pressing reason-I suggested that they go offworld to rescue kidnapped humans in apokilips. Its a supremely dangerous almost impossible mission for Superman so he gathers a small elite team of Heroes for this rescue mission.Thats how the league is formed-Ocean 11 style
That could work! I prefer earth first but you could always bring the threat to earth in the sequel too. They came together to take care of something elsewhere then if they want to raise the emotional stakes, the threat is brought to their home turf and it becomes something extremely personal, and that's when they need the aid of Aquaman. Either way works for me.Not really-all it takes is a good writer.
I think going offworld for a JL movie adventure is the best choice for a couple off reasons.
1.It is not another Alien invasion story which have become quite common especially in light of the Avengers.
2.We dont have clear idea of how all aspects of the DCU earth on film is going to be potrayed. For example we dont know how the Flashs film will potray his mythos, same with WW,Gl etc.
Seeing as we dont have a clear overall picture of the DCUearth-on-filmverse will be like I think its best to go off earth-to a place where it doesnt matter.
Then have the solomovies deal with those questions later.
My idea for an offworld JL space adventure is this-
With thousands of humans mysteriously kidnapped from Earth to Apokolips-the Hell planet of Galactic Myths.
Superman gathers a team of the earths greatest heroes on a rescue mission to Apoklips.
The movie covers the Teams battles with the forces of Apokolips to free the humans under the guidance of the spirits of the deceased New gods. The movie will also cover the Teams eforts to stop the ressurection of Darkseid-the Galacatic Satan.

Del Toro could go nuts with all the different alien species.

Also, I think the best route would be to have multiple GLs; The GL Corps, with 2 or 3 big names in the main roles. I think it creates a more unique identity for the GL movies; the superhero movies about a unit, a police force, not just a green superhero. (though I bet it'll draw comparisons to Guardian of the Galaxy)
Pine/Gyllenhaal as Hal
Elba/Boseman as John
Cooper/Tatum as Guy

Yes! Del Toro directing Green Lantern. Elba as Stewart, Pine as Hal, Cooper as Gardner??? That's insane. Even just Hal and John would be a great idea.
Has anyone listened to the Man of Steel theme very similar to TDKR's The End.
I'm kinda diggin this.
I still think there should be an 'invasion' of sorts. However, put it at the beginning, not the end, like Avengers.
ACT1
Darkseid's forces invade multiple cities all over the world, throwing it into chaos. One kid in particular (Vic Stone) gets into a 'unique' accident.
-Supes tries to take Darkseid head-on and fails.
ACT2
-When Supes wakes up in the hospital. Bats is there, telling him that he's been out for a couple days and that Darkseid and co. have disappeared, along with millions of humans.
-He tells Supes that he has formed a plan for a 'rescue mission'. It requires putting together a squad. Then they go around recruiting others. When Bats/Supes arrive, usually the recruits are busy with the chaos/rogues in their city, providing several exciting action introduction scenes.
-The last recruit is Cyborg, who has recently been fitted with remaining Darkseid tech, BOOM tubes, that will allow them to get to Darkseid's homeworld.
ACT3
-On Apokolips. Infiltrating Darkseid's base, using specific abilities (planned out by Bats) to find out the truth (via WW) about Darkseid's plan. They destroy Darkseid's BOOM tubes (but not Darkseid) and return to Earth with the human prisoners (via Cyborg's BOOM tube).
hanks.I was actually thinking of a Time travelling adventure for the sequel though.Have MM introduced thereZionite and Feed, im really digging this guys! It's a nice flip on the whole Avengers concept. Start the movie with an invasion by Darkseid, hopefully they can tease his arrival somewhat in a Wonder Woman origin film...pre-Justice League. Then launch it outside of earth. It would bring the competition right to the throat of Star Wars while doing something different from Avengers.
Martian Manhunter therefore doesn't have to step foot on earth (until the sequel where he begins his shapeshifting disguises like John Jones). The League have their first encounter with him halfway through the story.
Im not sure if Cyborg is necessary but in that case I wouldn't mind him being used as a member. I still like the idea of the first movie as just Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern. And I really think this Zionite concept (as ill call it) works even better for MM's introduction.
For a sequel, you take the threat to earth entirely, and make the threat more personal. Enter Aquaman. I doubt he'll be used in the first movie anyway and with this new idea it serves him well when he comes into JL 2.
A JL film set away from Earth? Good concept there.
