Can you give me an example of a scene you'd like to see and it will make Superman the talk of the town? He isn't a bad boy like Hulk, who can jump on a fighter and rip it apart. Superman's most impressive moment on big screen before Man of Steel was probably the plane and it didn't win that much people...
He had more screen time, than Superman, but not dramatically.
Superman has incomparably bigger chance to have his own film. They're figuring it out.

I read something from either Snyder camp or WB that they did not announce a direct sequel to MOS because of the ending of BvS so as not to telegraph any conclusions...

I agree 100%. Any moments that the character is likable are because of the actor in my opinion. I felt so uncomfortable with some of the stuff Superman said in BvS.

What stuff?

I still don't get why you and others keep saying he's unlikable. Seriously, I don't get how being serious and introspective equals unlikable.

I saw an interview, where they said they didn't have a plan for a solo Superman film because of JL films (featuring him, by the way).

But everyone and their grandmother's know that Superman isn't going to stay dead. I don't buy that excuse.

well that was after MOS and before BvS so I guess they wanted to keep us guessing... not knowing "when" he is coming back.

Reposting cause it needs to be said again:

He save Lois even though it causes political problems.

He cares about the poor folks of Gotham.

He interrupts his investigation of Bruce to fly to Mexico to save a little girl

He chooses to stand before the Senate though he did nothing wrong and doesn't have to answer to them.

He cares about the strangers that died at the Capitol even though most of them probably hated him.

He feels it was his responsibility to save the Capitol victims even though it isn't. -- and the Capitol should be capable of protecting itself.

He chooses to not harm Lex after Lex tried to kill Lois and kidnapped his mom.

He doesn't kill Bats though he'd perfectly within his rights to.

He doesn't hold a grudge against Bats and let's him save Martha.

He saves Lex from DD even though Lex would have deserved death.

He trusts WW though she's a stranger.

He let's himself get nuked cause it might stop DD.

He stops in the midst of battle to save Lois...something everyone complained about him not doing in Metropolis.

He sacrifices himself when he could just fly away with Lois and leave Bats and humanity to clean up their own mess with DD.

That's ALL Superman! And a nice guy!

People really need to look beyond the shallow visuals of Supes brooding and frowning. He's only doing that because there are things to brood and frown over.

He's still undeniably Superman. Why can't people see it?

I'm tired of this "he's unlikable" crap. This is all very likable and if you care for Supes at all as a character, you would not ignore this.

I'm sorry, but I think many of you are just being petty ***** and letting yourselves be swayed by the superficial elements of the movie rather than what's actually there.

Superman was anything but unlikable in BvS. He was the heart of the film, and this would have shined through had BvS been better pieced together.

A new thread... may hope spring eternal! Let us all be happy and have great discussions ☺

Well I'll say this, at least some of the fans of BvS acknowledge the atrocious, schizophrenic editing.

All of this makes some Superman fans look like they committed betrayal. He doesn't smile, he's sad, he struggling... So screw him and his good deeds.

I posted the following over in the hel* hole... I mean BvS thread earlier...

I think JL could open with Martha waking in the middle of the night by the sound of thunder. Cut to morning, she walks through the grave yard, floweres in hand for Clark's grave. She gets to the site only to find a crater of soil and a blown apart casket. Martha gasps, then smiles and looks up.
Cut to: News reports saying the Kryptonian ship mysteriously disappeared from Metropolis city center. Another report says the World Engine has disappeared from the Indian ocean...
Cut to: The inside of the scout ship and one of the "keelor" robots floating near a chamber door... a puff of steam and it opens to reveal a new symbol of hope.

Cut to...

something similar would answer some Q's and close some holes about leaving the Kryptotech available for Earthlings.

just a thought

One can't help acknowledging that. It's true. But editing doesn't affect what the characters actually do. Superman does Superman stuff.

I'm kinda split on that, because I really want to see return of Superman through eyes of Martha or Lois, or both. On the other hand, I want to see him suddenly save the day with JL.

This Supes is more introvert than someone people like, he is not giving inspiring speeches all over the place, a la animated series, but he is still undoubtedly Superman.

The editing could be better and or different and could help a lot.

I can't wait to see if the material cut out was "necessary" for the story and would have helped the critics.

well, you'd only see the suit at that point...like a tease.

Maybe then there would be a big save the day reveal.

I think if he just drops out of the sky unexpectedly to save someone like WW did to save Bats, there would be moans...

I hate dark and serious films, Snyder better keep JL light and fun.

Suicide Squad looks like it won't have a light tone, but it will be fun. So I guess you will like it but you won't love it.:o

This Supes is more introvert than someone people like, he is not giving inspiring speeches all over the place, a la animated series, but he is still undoubtedly Superman.

He has been young and humble so far. He has felt comfortable as a leader yet.

I hope they show him "learn" from the scout ship like Lex did and maybe even access his fathers "spirit" from the ship. Maybe not Crowes voice but his teachings. I think Jor-El was too smart not to have secured and hidden his essence before the ship "deleted" him.

This could show that Kal now has the wisdom and knowledge and maturity to lead by example.

The tone isn't a problem, it's the execution. Snyder focuses on the darker tone so much that even when we see Superman doing heroic things, it's surrounded by bleak imagery. I think listing heroic things he did is a superficial reason for supporting this character when he doesn't say very much about how he feels. When he does say something, it's usually very pessimistic. That is not Superman
