Following the record-setting success of this summer's Fast Five, Universal Pictures has signed a deal with director Justin Lin to set up a number of projects through his Barnstorm Pictures. Variety has the news, listing a number of projects that are planned for development in the next two years.

The previously-announced Fast Six is already set for release on May 24, 2013 and is expected to reunite the full franchise cast. Lin will certainly direct that project while setting up a number of other films, including the spy story Leading Man, an untitled sci-fi project to be helmed by Robert Glickert (who worked as Lin's assistant on Fast & Furious) and an untitled historical drama about the 442nd Infantry, an all Japanese American unit that, during World War II, became the most highly decorated regiment in US history.

Lin also remains attached to a fifth Terminator film, though no timeframe or studio is currently announced for that project.

I loved Fast Five and I'm interested to see what he can do outside the franchise with a big budget.

As of yesterday, does the fast franchise actually need him? I mean it's not like his name sells the product ala vin diesel. Moreover it's not like his past two efforts worked and found the mainstream.

I love lin by the way. But I always find it funny how executives scramble to save their jobs.
Lin's movie is doing better business that marvels biggest hits including iron man when all is said an done. Marvel should grab him before his price tag goes up.

this is like JJ limiting themselfs. from what i understand they can only work in that time with one studio

Wasn't he gonna direct a new Terminator movie?

Better than Iron Man? None of his movies grossed more than Iron Man.

Iron Man 2 still grossed more than Fast Five and Iron Man grossed more than Fast and Furious.

Can't wait for Fast Six. Just saw Fast Five the other day and it was awesome.
