No trust me, it's not like they're really doing it or anything... that will be the stupidest thing possible

but I thought it would be a really fun thing to do, if say the original karate kid wasn't made... WHO would you cast if Karate Kid was a new movie in production today and coming out say later this year?

Daniel Larusso

Ali Mills

the classic role of John Kreese

the even better role of Mr Miyagi (this one would be damn tough)

Johnny Lawrence

Thought this would be a fun thing to do, who would you cast out of today's actors and stars in these roles, doesn't even have to be that famous... also who would you get to direct?

If I can be serious, this idea is a travesty.

However, if I was making a parody of Karate Kid, I'd cast Chuck Norris as Mr. Myagi and Bobby Lee from MadTV as Daniel. The "training montage" would consist of Chuck nailing Bobby in the nuts with basketballs for 30 minutes straight.

Thats the stupidiest idea i ever heard. Leave The Original movie alone. Ther should be no remake of that movie. That was Pat Morita's best movie. No need to taint it.

oh jesus people, READ the actual thread itself

I'm not saying that they are or will be... I'm just saying IF the Karate Kid movie DID NOT get made in 1984... say the script was written for now and the movie was in pre production/casting... WHO would you cast in those roles... that's all i'm saying.

while I don't think there should ever be a remake, I do think people should lighten up a bit. this is just hypothetical, and just for fun.

There is no such thing as, "thinking about a remake just for fun". Prepare to be punished.

If it was never made in the first place, no-one would make it these days. On paper it's a laaaame teenage version of Rocky. It works so well because of the performances and direction.

I was prepared to spit fire...good thing this remake isn't really happening. Hearing about Halloween was bad enough news.

yes there is, when it's not actually being made. I'm not saying it's like that with EVERY single idea, but if you're bored enough, what the hell is the harm in recasting old movies for the hell of it?

because some low ranking wage slave at a studio might see it, and think there is a demand.then they suggest it to someone at the studio, who thinks the same and then tells some one higher up. and so on. then we end up with remakes of everything.

Nooooooooooooo, even thinking of a remake (even if you are thinking of remaking a freddie prinze movie) is reason the have your vocal chords cut out using the doohickey for removing stones from horses hooves thats on a swiss army knife.

Because some Hollywood jackass might lurk around here, see this, and make it happen. Then it's all your fault that another crap remake has been born.

The Karate Kid is a classic piece of cinema, and should remain untouched. The mere idea of remaking it is ludicrous. While we're at it, let's remake The Godfather.

I think you're overstating the importance of this place just a bit...

...Did you just compare The Karate Kid to The Godfather?

wow lol... people have totally lost the point of this thread

it's just a fun thing... Much like an earlier thread I posted years ago where who would you cast if Spider-man was made in the 80s... two big popular choices was Kirk Cameron and John Cusack... the latter being the better choice IMO

but that's the point, it's just a fun idea, like who would you choose?

Daniel - Hayden Christensen? Wes Bentley?

Alli - someone cute but not overly sexy... Ron Howard's daughter

John Kreese - Clancy Brown? Matthew McConaughey

Johnny Lawrence - dunno about this, there are loads I think, but the right person? dunno, ? Chris Carmack would be a damn good choice actually IMO... (he's Luke from the OC),

Miyagi... dunno...would be very hard to cast this one? Sonny Chiba? hehe he did a good job as that sorta comedic older teacher in Kill Bill 2... was just throwing out ideas

Out of everyone, Miyagi would be the hardest one to cast I think, but Sonny Chiba would make a pretty good choice.

well I guess the movie is being made and judging by the trailers it looks awesome! I can't wait to see it!
