Kick Ass 2 announcement coming soon - Part 1

The sick stick scene was horrible and didn't belong in this movie. Yes even for Kick-Ass. It was completely out of place and didn't fit at all. In fact a lot of the Mean Girl scenes halted the movie in its tracks.

Not surprised the movie bombed this weekend. This was basically like the DTV sequel to Kick-Ass. Not surprised Vaughn didn't feel inspired enough to come back to do this story.

Came back from my second viewing and it makes the movie much better for me. I guess it's the Spider-Man 3 syndrom again: A complex story which i can only really "get" after a few times.

It was not boring, every major characters have real progession and i think there is not one real plot hole in the script. The links back to the first movie are great: Start of the movie, KA and Dr.Gravity fight on the street,
Mindy visits Dave
etc.

The soundtrack is good, too. Jackman's work is on par with the first one.

A great sequel to one of the best comic book movies of all time.

The stick scene is even odder as the version of it in the books, unlike the Mother Russia and cops sequence or the "rape" scene, is actually quite good and in tone with the first movie, and it should have been left in.

In the graphic novel Mindy tasers the queen bee and takes her to the school's roof. She then wakes her above the roof and talks of how she is going to kill her, and that she deserves to cease to exist...then drops her in a dump truck.

It is a very funny scene. I wonder as it pertained to teen violence if Universal refused to do a sequence like that?

In any case, the stick scene would have felt out of place in a Judd Apatow comedy, much less Kick-Ass.

As to Vaughn, if he came back, he could have massively changed the plot as he did with the first film.

I realized the movie was gonna suck the second Hit-Girl told the guy attacking Dave to "promise he'd never turn to crime again". The thing that made Hit-Girl and Big Daddy so cool was that unlike Dave who followed the classic comic book rules, they understood the limited violence\no killing rule had to be tossed out.

Another massive red flag was when the movie began with Red Mist killing his mother. Screen writing 101, enter late and leave early. In the original scripts for Empire Strikes Back Darth Vader began the movie in a castle where he is given his quest to find Luke Skywalker and bring him to the darkside. However this was thrown out because the audience isn't going to have a hard time accepting Vaders been looking for Luke after the events of the previous film.

Overall the whole things was just a mess. I was pissed when Matthew Vaughn left the project for X-Men but now that he's not even doing that anymore I'm furious.

You do realize she was messing with the guy right? She even told Dave she had been coming up with lines for such situations.

Vaughn doesn't seem to like the idea of sequels. Left DoFP as well to do Secret Service. Cast already looks strong and hopefully he does get Emma Watson for that.

On another note, This movie can't really "bomb".

very true lol it has already made 19 million on a 28 million budget

So I did a double feature today with this and Elysium, second viewings of both, and weirdly, the repeat viewing left me liking Elysium less than first viewing and this one just tad bit more.

I'm not that sad about the box office because this being an inferior sequel, I don't think it deserves to earn more than the first, but I would have loved to see another sequel, so it's disappointing in that sense.

Personally I enjoyed this, nowhere near as good as the first film but enjoyable and entertaining. I'm giving it a 7.5/10

I agree with DaRk on this one good movie not as good as part one but still a good movie and it will so be in my movie collection when it hits home video. by the way did any of you guys stay for the post credits scene for those who saw it ;)?

thought the movie was ok. 6.5 out of ten. Can you break down how to do spoilers more simple. Put tags where

Well, if it ends up having cult status on video/cable, it will have "succeeded". My guess is that a 3rd entry would probably get independently financed, maybe Millar will reach out to his "fanboy" audience via Kickstarter or something.

I am still hoping and think a third and final installment is possible. These movies don't cost enough to not make money on the backend imo. I really want to see where the [BLACKOUT]Dave and Mindy[/BLACKOUT] thing goes. I want Chris' uncle to get out and start running the streets.

On either sides of your spoilers. So it would look like this:

[ blackout ]YOUR SPOILERS HERE[ /blackout ]

You just have to remove the spaces in between the brackets and text.

If 3 does happen, I can totally see
The Uncle running the show and Chris joins forces with Dave and Mindy to fight back. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Marcus joins them too.

Yeah I think [blackout]The Uncle[/blackout] has clearly been set up to be the "big bad" in KA3.

[blackout]Why did Dave girlfriend dump him? Doesn't she know why he is hanging with hit girl? Can't she put two and two together?
How was as kicker able to rejoin the team and we root for him? He got dave's dad killed.[/blackout] I thought the movie was ok. 6.5 out of ten.

I was thinking the same thing at first until it was apparent she was just taunting him into attacking. Kinda funny I thought.

Saw it...liked it. Quite a bit really. Laughed a lot. Will probably see it again.

Not going to place it up there with the first one because that's my #1 comic book movie and I never expected this one to match that. "Magic" usually only happens once.

This one could not have Mark Strong, Cage/Big Daddy, or 11 year old Mindy. That's three things I love about the first one. The music also didn't hit the same chords with me this time.

A problem that was tough to overcome is that they changed some stuff in the first movie from the comic but this one was stuck trying to adapt the KA2 comic with the same characters from the first comic. So Katie and the MF'er felt a little "off" here. Katie turns into a cold ***** and the MF'er goes from innocent Chris to evil Chris. Felt kind of abrupt to me.

Too bad it took so long to make because Dave and Mindy got older and I couldn't help noticing. Hard to believe Dave is still in high school to be honest. And Mindy is not quite as wacky a character at 15. I will admit her revenge on the "Mean Girls" cracked me up though.

But hey....was still kinda nice to see those characters again and I did have a good time watching it. Hovering between 7.5/10 and 8/10 for me. That's a decent step down from my 10/10 for KA1....but hard to complain too loud given the circumstances.
