Kick-Ass 3 Happening? But Hit Girl prequel to come first!

Vaughn has done an interview which I read on the site which shall not be named saying he is hoping to get someone to direct a HG prequel and then be able to convince Chloe and Aaron to return for KA3. I really hope so!

Yeah same here about the prequel, especially as Chloe wouldnt be involved. But its a small price to pay to get KA3.

I know some people didn't think Hit-Girl was quite as entertaining anymore simply because she wasn't as young. I wonder if that has anything to do with why they're going for a prequel first.

I thought Hit Girl was still great in KA2. But I imagine a prequel would be even lower budget than the movies and would be less of a risk and that is why they are going that route first. Thats IMO of course.

Same here, its a really under rated sequel for me. I still watch it now and enjoy it a lot. It was never going to beat the original.

Oh yeah, I don't dislike KA2. The brawl at the end, while not in Times Square, is particularly awesome. I just think it's a waste of the material. Wadlow combined Hit-Girl and KA2 and only kind of succeeded, story-wise. He also added some very questionable material to Mindy's story line. Overall, he didn't quite hit the spot. The first Kick-Ass was a perfect storm. The cast, the music, Matthew Vaughn. Wadlow could never have replicated that.

Recasting is probably what they're planning. Especially since he only mentioned Chloe in regards to convincing her back for KA3.

Yes they would have to re-cast, which I am not a huge fan of but if it means we get KA3 then so be it.

Ah well I like KA2. Other than the diarrhea scene, I dont see what's so wrong with it. I feel that whatever problems I had with it I also had with the first one.
I dont consider either great films. But I'll gladly watch them again and own them.

I hope KA3 happens so they can complete the story. I couldnt care less about a Hit Girl prequel/spin off or whatever

I agree, I think KA2 was a good movie & better than most give it credit for. It doesn't have quite the same vibe as the first but it still works. The only thing I really had a problem with was Mindy's whole high school arc. It just didn't seem very Hit-Girl-ish. I don't see her as the type of person who would ever be bothered by social norms & the like.

But yeah, I don't really care for a prequel. I'd be all for Kick-Ass 3 or a Hit-Girl solo movie, especially since Moretz is now 18. It'd be nice to see the character as an adult (same for Dave) and to see the new nuances that could be touched upon.

A prequel, though? I don't really see how it could cover anything different than what was done in the first movie. The first movie pretty much said it all in terms of Hit-Girl's beginnings.

KA2 is a really under rated sequel IMO, there was no way it was going to be better than the original, as that was a classic. Yet the sequel managed to progress the story and characters in a good way and make McLovin a good bad guy.

I have no idea what the logic is of doing a Hit Girl film without Chloe, unless they just want to revisit the idea of a fouled mouth kid who kicks arse and kills people. A third film with her now as a young adult makes far more sense.
