Kids get all the best things.

Double post

I picked this up today and it is awesome. I didn't realize that it more or less continues from Jeff Smith's Shazam from last year.

I don't really have a feel for Shazam... I know the basics but that's it. Is it worth it for me to grab it? It looks lighthearted. Also, I've heard good stuff about Smith, but I haven't read Bone or his Monster Society of Evil...

I probably would've read it if I had more money. Kids' comics are the first things I cut when I'm strapped for cash.

Oh does it?

That is good.

I had mixed feelings about the Jeff Smith Shazam! series, but as an alternate version (like All-Star or Ultimate) that I can deal with as long as it's not cannon. I've picked up this series and since we Shazam! fans don't have many options it's nice that someone is doing something, so I'm optimistic about that.

I can never get past that his comics are always called something-or-other Shazam instead of just Captain Marvel.

Marvel stole the Trademark Rights on Captain Marvel so they can't.

I know there's a reason for it, but it still annoys me.

ME TOO!
.....and I believe now that Billy is the Wizard and Freddy has taken over; Billy's called Marvel so Freddy is going by the name SHAZAM, so he STILL can't say his name. How dumb is that?!

He can say his name. The lightning no longer comes when Freddy simply says Shazam. He has to mean it. Make magic bend to his will.

O.K. don't know how I missed that, but Freddy should be the New Captain Marvel not SHAZAM. Hopefully I'm mistaken about that too.:o

I'm certain writers are going to start ignoring it all.

As it is very ******ed.

That would probably be for the best. Freddy as the new Captain Marvel is fine, but pretty much everything else about Trials? Yeah, dump it.

Which one? Being able to say SHAZAM without calling down the lightening or being called SHAZAM instead of Captain Marvel?

I honestly don't like either.

I've never considered myself a purist before but damn Captain Marvel seems to bring it out of me.

I just don't see him "meaning it" ever playing out in a story again it's just a way to allow him to introduce himself.
