Kill la Kill the Game: IF lacks command moves, has d-pad and button-based attacks and verbal disputes
Published 11 hours ago. 25 comments.

New tidbits on the 2019-due 3D battle action game.

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has new information on Kill la Kill the Game: IF, the upcoming Kill la Kill 3D battle game published by Arc System Works and developed by APlus Games.

Here are the tidbits:

    • Players can freely run around a 3D field using simple controls.
    • While there are not any command moves and such, players can easily perform attacks with d-pad and button inputs.
    • In addition to dashes, steps, and guards, players can also use long distance attacks.
    • Players can also use button-mashing combos, as well as activate finishing attacks that produce a variety of scenes with the final d-pad input of a combo.
    • The game is based on a rock-paper-scissors system, where one action in a set of three overpowers another, but is weak against the other. This includes break attacks, blows, and guards in one set, and blows, read evasion attacks, and evasion actions in another set.
    • By landing a Ketsui Burst (Determination Burst) special attack, a Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu (Speech of Expressed Determination) will activate, during which you will fight while in a verbal dispute. This also has a rock-paper-scissors system with provoke (scissors), abuse (paper), and mock (rock) actions.
    • By winning, your Ketsui Level (Determination Level) will rise and your character’s stats will increase.
    • Development is currently 35 percent complete.
Kill la Kill the Game: IF is due out worldwide for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2019. If you missed it earlier this month, watch the debut trailer here.

Kill la Kill the Game: IF details simple controls, verbal disputes, more
Published 5 mins ago. 0 comments.

A look at the 3D battle action game's systems.

Arc System Works has released new information and screenshots of Kill la Kill the Game: IF introducing the game’s simple controls, verbal disputes, and more.
Get the details below.
An Introduction to the Kill la Kill the Game: IF Game System
Kill la Kill the Game: IF is a 3D battle action game where players run around the field, dash and step, and use various attacks to fight. When characters are distanced from each other, players can close the gap with long distance attacks and steps. When characters are nearby each other, players can drive into the enemy with close-range attack combos. Reduce the enemy’s HP to zero to win.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_07-31-18_002.jpg
No Complex Commands: Input D-Pad Keys and Press Face Buttons Simultaneously to Unleash Various Attacks
Although there is only one button for close-range attacks, by pressing the button while inputting a d-pad key, as well as using the attack buttons while jumping or dashing, you can unleash attacks with various directions and range.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_07-31-18_004.jpg
Not Just Simple Controls: Read Each Other’s Moves Like You Would in a Fighting Game
By adding “Evasion” and “Read Evasion Attack” elements to the basic rock-paper-scissors system of “Blow,” “Guard,” and “Break Attack,” you can enjoy battles that are both simple and deeply strategic.

Reproducing the Battles of the Original Work: “Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu”
“Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu,” or “Speech of Expressed Determination,” is a game system that reproduces the “conversation scenes with the enemy while fighting” as often seen in the anime. During battle, by landing a “Ketsui Burst” with the L1 + R1 buttons, that character’s Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu will activate. By activating it, a rock-paper-scissors system will appear on each player’s side of the screen, and each player must choose one option to speak during their verbal dispute. If the character who activates the Ketsui Hyoumei Enzetsu either wins or ties, their “Ketsui Level,” which is tied to the firmness of their statements, will rise. By increasing a character’s Ketsui Level, they will significantly strengthen in ways such as basic ability improvements and turning some special moves into super special moves. If you reach the maximum Ketsui Level, the deadly blow known as “Seni Sou****su Ougi” becomes available to use. Once your Ketsui Level rises, it will not decrease for the duration of that battle.

Arc System Works has released new information on Kill la Kill the Game: IF, detailing recently confirmed playable characters Nonon Jakuzure and Houka Inumuta.

Get the details below.

■ Houka Inumuta

Profile

One of the student council’s Elite Four. He analyzes everything and makes the greatest impact through the lowest effort. He is the Student Council Information and Strategy Committee Chair.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_002.jpg

Abilities

Inumuta appears in his “Three-Star Goku Uniform: Probe Regalia” from the TV anime. From his tricky behavior that utilizes Optical Camouflage, Inumuta is a technical fighter that attacks with feats of acrobatic coordination focused on kicks and “analysis”—essentially information manipulation. Similar to Ira Gamagori, he has a dedicated gauge called the “Analyze Gauge,” which can be consumed to perform pursuit attacks. His physical strength and attack power are low, but he has extremely high mobility and possesses top-class performance in terms of prepared explosive power.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_004.jpg

—Most of Inumuta’s attacks have timing to temporarily disappear with Optical Camouflage, and enable tricky movements without letting the opponent read his attack pattern. He can also mix in feints where he moves without attacking to trifle with his opponent.

—Inumuta’s dedicated “Analyze Gauge” will increase one bar at a time by hitting the target marker of long-range attack. Consuming the gauge improves the performance of various techniques.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_008.jpg

—Inumuta’s long-range attacks fire a target marker and sends out a clone to attack. Since his clone attacks with irregular movements that are difficult to evade, the opponent is always tossed about.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_009.jpg

—Just like the original work, Inumuta is always typing on his uniform’s keyboards with various poses. There are more than 10 patterns of poses, even when he is idle.

—Inumuta’s special close-range attack from episode 10 of the TV anime returns in the game. Daunt the opponent with a quick kick, followed by an extreme rush in the invisible state.

■ Nonon Jakuzure

Profile

The lone woman of the student council’s Elite Four. She regulates non-athletic clubs such as the biology and gardening clubs, and is the Non-Athletic Committee Chair.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_017.jpg

Abilities

Jakuzure appears in her “Three-Star Goku Uniform: Symphony Regalia Da Capo” from the TV anime. She specializes in long-range tecniques and fights using sound-themed blasts and lasers fired from her baton and Shako hat. She has the highest variation of long-range attacks among all the characters in the game. Depending on how long the button is pressed, all of her long-range attacks change in three stages, allowing her to use various attacks suited for different situations. Her close-range fighting power and speed are low, so fight while keeping distance from the enemy.

—Jakuzure’s long-range attacks fire blasts of musical note. The multi-stage charge enables the use of straight-shot, jumbo, homing, and stationary blasts, which you can utilize depending on the situation.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_020.jpg

—Some techniques see Jakuzure place “reverberation blasts” that remain in place for a fixed period time. If the opponent touches a reverberation blasts, it will explode and damage them. By approaching these blasts, Jakuzure can equip them like barriers. Restrict the movement of the opponent and control the battlefield.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_021.jpg

—Jakuzuer’s melee attack is a two-stage attack that fires musical notes and shock waves to the movement of her baton. Its activation is slow, and since it will not hit if you are close to the opponent, it is important to keep your distance.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_022.jpg

—Jakuzure’s break attack fires a laser from her Shako hat. It takes a while to fire, but even on wide stages, its range is end to end.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2018_11-16-18_023.jpg

—Jakuzure’s special attack is extremely flashy. Sound blasts come down like rain to flatten the opponent with a super wide area attack.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_001.jpg

Abilities

A power-type character that wears the Life Fibers dress she wore for The Great Culture and Sport Festival, and fights using superhuman martial arts and Life Fibers. Next to Ira Gamagoori, she possesses top class attack power and extremely high physical strength, and fights with performance suited to the last boss of the original anime.

She has a wide variety of attacks, including an attack that entangles her opponent in Life Fibers, as well those that fire bullets and lasers, but her movement is slow, which can be a challenge.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_002.jpg

—Her melee attacks are heavy punch attacks against opponents caught in her Life Fiber wires. The attack range of the wires is wide enough that you can attack without moving, but when it does not hit, it becomes a skill of chance leaving her wide open.

—Her long-range attacks fire off a countless number of Life Fiber bullets at the opponent. Not only can you button mash to fire, you can also press to charge and fire off numerous bullets. By fully charging, you can place clusters of Life Fibers on the field that rapid-fire bullets for a fixed window of time.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_005.jpg

—Her break attack fires off a laser that deals big damage. Unlike other characters, she cannot extend a combo with pursuit dash, but the amount of damage she can deal in a single blow is extremely high. The ability lets you jet suddenly from air to ground and so on, making it a surprisingly valuable skill.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_006.jpg

—Her special moves also consist of wide-range, high performance skills. The rainbow-colored aura worn by Ragyou in the anime is also depicted in the game.

■ Nui Harime

Profile

The Grand Couturier of Revocs. She refers to herself as “boku” which is usually used by younger boys. She claims that she has murdered Ryuko’s father and holds the other half of the Scissor Blade.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_009.jpg

Abilities

A tricky character that fights by slashing the Scissor Blades and summoning doppelgangers. She possesses numerous ever-changing attacks, ranging from simultaneous combos with her doppelganger to surprise attacks, traps, and more. You can gain the upper hand by summoning a doppelganger and taking strategic action to hinder the opponent’s movements.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_010.jpg

—For melee attacks, she uses the Scissor Blades. While it can only be comboed a limited number of times, the amount of hits per blow is many. She can also move irregularly, from playful dancing about to mid-air leaping.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_012.jpg

—Her long-range attacks see her throw puppets to create a doppelganger and attack. She has many tricky skills, including attacks staggered in time from her doppelganger, and using a doppelganger as a shield.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_013.jpg

—Her break attack is a wide-range attack unleashed simultaneously with her doppelganger. Even if it clashes with the opponent’s attack, the attack will not stop unless the real Nui is hit.

Kill-la-Kill-the-Game-IF_2019_02-06-19_014.jpg

—Her special attacks include pretty-at-first glance, but dirty techniques such as pulling out an outfit’s Nexus Thread (Banshi) like she did in the original anime, and an unguardable doppelganger assault.

hmmm.....this is another anime series I need to start watching.

Studio Trigger is generally good, if off the wall in their original works. I have generally liked all of their stuff. And the dub is good.
