I'm new to the Batman boards, but I love BB, and think Dark Knight will own.

But anyways...

I'm interested in reading "The Killing Joke."

Is it still available? Would Barnes and Noble/Waldenbooks/etc. carry it still?

Thanks.

I'm sure if you called or looked online you'd find out. :woot:

I bought it from amazon.com a couple years ago, so I'm pretty sure they have it.

I don't want to order online, that's the thing.

I'd rather be able to go and pick it up.

I have a Barnes and Noble and a Waldenbooks near me.

NEWB!! :cmad: :woot:

Anyway ff, I believe TKJ is out of print. You might be able to find a random copy at a bookstore, but I think it'd be a longshot. I know it's collected in DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore, which I highly recommend. Should be under $20 online or in stores.

If you're against online, I definitely say just pick up the Moore collection. It's got TKJ and some other good stuff and is relatively cheap. It wasn't released that long ago and I always see it when I head to my LCS. Should be in bookstores too.

I'm just mainly interested in TKJ. I kinda want to read up for TDK, get some knowledge in my brain before-hand.

I'll check it out online, but I'm gonna give those bookstores a shot.

You're not the same farmerfran who posts over on TalkIMPACT, are you?

Good idea if you're looking for some background.

I only recommend the Moore collection because it'll be infinitely cheaper and easier than trying to find TKJ alone. The only place I see it is online auctions and used sellers, usually running upwards of $25.

Never heard of TalkIMPACT. And there is a farmerfran there? Huh.

Well, then I guess I'll look for the Moore DC Universe Collection then.

is there any way you can view comics online? I was always wondering that...

it should be available. it's been reprinted like 26 times, i dont know why they'd stop now. borders books and music may very well carry it, i've noticed they have a better selection than barnes and noble. you should be able to get it at any comic shop. if the book stores dont have it they should be able to order it for you. the story (along with many other fantastic stories) is collected in the Alan Moore stories of the DC universe.

Thanks for the help. I'll look for it.

Damnit, h r! I couldn't find the thread! :ninja:

I don't think bookstores would have it, but I think you can probably find a good copy (reprint) at a LCS for anywhere between $5-$10. I got mine on the internet for only $6.

I believe THE KILLING JOKE is out of print for now. You can only still find it on the shelves in: DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore.

Or just learn technology and go to Amazon.com.

Good ol' Amazon.

Doubt you will find it in print at your local shop or bookstore. Fat chance you will end up getting it online.

Although, I would suggest getting The Man Who Laughs as well or instead. I liked it a lot more than TKJ for introducing Joker's origin but it's near impossible to get (harder than TKJ). I had to go to good ol' Mr.eBay to get my hands on TMWL.

Course...with them re-writing/re-doing Joker's origin in Batman: Confidental or something...kinda pointless if you just want to know more about his origin since appearently it won't use TKJ as a reference at all. Good story...same with TMWL...but...yea...

Farmerfran, good luck finding it. Definitely one of my favorite Batman stories but it is also very intense. The Joker is just...well I'll let you see for yourself. :cwink:

Check eBay. You'll easily find a quality copy there.
