I remember a couple years ago (before Marvel start it's own Studio) Sony was in negotiations to make a Killraven film. I don't think anyone ever found out whether Sony aquired those rights or not but I don't think they ever did. If they did they'd have to make it pretty damn quick or risk losing the rights. In either case I think this film could really work. Sort of a futuristic version of Gladiator. I know this project is extremely important to Avi Arad even though he's now at his own production company. Marvel started it's own studio with a slate of 10 films...which has now grown to 12 films. Since Marvel got Luke Cage back to join up with Iron Fist for a potential Heroes for Hire film, and Marvel is due to get Daredevil & Elektra rights back by next year Marvel always has the option of adding titles to the facility & or removing titles with Merrill Lynches approval. I'm glad they added Hulk & Iron Man and got those rights back for several reasons. I'm guessing after Thor, Cap, Nick Fury, Ant-Man movies roll out Marvel will be searching for new franchises. I think Killraven is waiting in the wings as a very cool Sci-Fi epic to look forward too. What do you guys think and who would you cast in the lead???

Here's the old news from 2005:
Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment are planning to develop the 1970's Marvel Comics character Killraven into a sci-fi feature franchise.
Sony is currently in discussions with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert "The Kentucky Cycle" Schenkkan to adapt a screenplay.
Marvel's Avi Arad will produce Killraven with Angryfilms' Don Murphy.
Loosely based on the classic public domain novel "The War Of The Worlds", the character 'Killraven' debuted in Marvel Comics' "Amazing Adventures" #18, focusing on 'Jonathan Raven', who was only 1-year old when the 'Martians' invaded and enslaved mankind. When he was 5, his mother was killed by the aliens and he was separated from his brother 'Joshua'.
Trained by the alien 'Martian Exterminators' as a gladiator to fight other humans, Jonathan is given the name 'Killraven' and subjected to power-enhancing experiments by 'Keeper Whitman' that endow him with physical prowess and the telepathic ability to control Martian minds.
Jonathan eventually escapes his captors, becomes leader of the 'Freemen' resistance group, captures the Martian-collaborating mayor of New York City, kills Keeper Whitman and discovers his brother now transformed into a mindless Martian 'psychotronic' weapon called 'Deathraven'.
