King Kong is stupidly underrated by alot of people on the Hype. :down

Though I didn't see a lot that year, the only two movies I truly enjoyed in 2005 were Batman Begins and King Kong.

Thats because people think Peter Jackson is overrated. Which is foolish. He's one of the few directers who can master CGI.

It was too long, and doesn't come close to LOTR, but it was at least a better movie than the big blockbusters I've seen so far this dull summer

I loved Kong....and the extended version was even better.

Agreed. This summer has been extreamly dull.

It was good, but it was way too long and dragged a bit. Its not generally a good idea to remake an hour and a half movie as a 3 hour movie.

I also agree. I'm hoping FF2 and TF will turn that around.
HAHAHAHA I find it funny that people think FF2 will help save the summer. But whatever. I hope you enjoy the movie when you see it. At least some folks need some enjoyible movies this summer.

I was really excited about 2007 but it has been a big let down for the most part. I liked Grindhouse and thought 300 was at least OK...and that's about it....but the year isn't over yet I guess.

As for Kong's length, it was too long in the theater, but watching it at home..and the extended edition mind you...I could appreciate it for all it is worth.

Yeah I meant hopefully FF2 will be enjoyable{unlike Spidey, Pirates, and Ocean's}

King kong was the last epic movie I saw come out in Dec. Last years movies were horrible. Come on Rocky and eragon hardly epic. I really hope The golden compess. Will make Dec a epic movie month again like King kong, and the LOTR movies did.

Ocean's Thirteen is a god compared to any of this summer's blockbusters, so far. Spider-Man, Shrek, and Pirates have not a damn thing on Ocean's, aside from the outrageous, undeserved coin.

It was unnecessarily long unlike LOTR, and not as good as LOTR, but I still enjoyed it.

Peter Jackson did a good job, I absolutely loved Skull Island, and the visuals were amazing.

I am kinda surprised Peter Jackson was not nominated for any huge awards at the Oscars though.

Great thread. I can see why some didn't like the movie, but I personally loved it. One of the best films of 05.

I loved Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong. And reading this makes me really want to purchase that extended cut that I have been putting off for quite a while now it seems.

It's only about 7 minutes longer. It's not a huge change like the LOTR EEs.

This movie is a classic in my book, the original is soooo funny!!!,

great movie, one of my all time favs

Great movie, a little long, but great nonetheless. Peter Jackson really did let King Kong come to life and the visual effects, score, acting, were all top notch.
