BTW, can you believe this project was postponed for like two years cuz the studios didn´t want the car to talk? Which would be like a SW movie where R2D2 doesn´t make its noises...

I´m not crazy about Welling, but it will also depend on what take they will go with, if retell the pilot or have Hoff as Knight passing the torch to someone younger. I´d rather they remade the pilot.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do it that way with Hoff passing the torch (at one time the script envolved Michael Knight and his son supposedly to be played by Ben Affleck) but I'm not sure if that will work.
They tried to do it with Knight Rider 2000 and Team Knight Rider and even the first season or two of Baywatch didn't do well when the Hoff was on the sidelines. People feel too strongly about him and those characters.

Yeah, problem is Hoff is a little too old to just reprise the role. That´s why I think you need to find a strong actor. Hoff is a very masculine type, that´s why I think someone like Holloway would be much better than Welling.

Hum...maybe in a movie but I can easily see him play the role again on tv. It would be interesting to see what happaned to Michael and KITT after all these years. I can easily see Welling as Hoff's son more than Josh.
Also Welling can play that cool but almost corny side of the Hoff that we love so much...

On a side note the Jump In My Car single is becoming a hit also on England, Australia and over the net in the US as it is one of the most watched videos proving that Knight Rider is still very much in the hearts of fans worldwide.

It´s not a rumor, the Weinstein brothers got the rights for it and Glen Larson himself is penning it.

I know, because of the tone of the show, many people will look at it as a silly idea, and I don´t blame them. But I grew up with Knight Rider, along with the Adam West Batman show it was my favorite show as a kid, and I think it has potential to be a cool movie, if done right.

I think Miami Vice squashed all hope of it being done right.

If they are going to make this movie, it will not be an updated, exteneded version of the pilot episode. It will most likely only have The Hoff in a cameo. We would probably get new actors, new story, new car, and even new characters.

Actually we in the US watch it (the video) as we enjoy laughing at Hoff. He really is not so well liked here, people tend to like making fun of him more than anything.

I know but alot of ppl who laugh at him (me included) are his fans and like him even if he is cheesy alot of times. He himself makes fun of his image and that's one of the reasons he is really cool in my book.

Though the thought would be nice, Welling would be a miscast, looks-wise. Michael Knight Jr should look like Michael Long, not Hasselhoff's Knight. Hasselhoff's Knight is all plastic surgery.

So, I guess Josh would be a better choice, for lack of other choices.

Well, I guess Holloway would look too old to be his son, but I can´t see Welling playing the fun-loving, womanizing aspect of Michael knight.

As for Hoff´s cheesy reputation, it comes a lot from the material that made him famous. While I grew up with KR and it still has a fond place in my heart, I know the show was pretty cheesy - but well, how many TV shows in the eighties weren´t cheesy? He´s also remembered for Baywatch, which, let´s face it, was all about shirtless muscular guys and babes with fake boobs running on the beach.

There are plenty of serious (or at least non-satirical or comedic) movies based on old TV shows that succeeded, like The Fugitive, the original Star Trek movies, Mission Impossible, Swat. The problem with Miami Vice is first, it cost a lot more than a gritty cop drama should have - due to production problems and stuff. Second, it got mixed to bad reviews, and it actually didn´t try hard enough to associate itself with the TV show - they didn´t even play the old theme. Imagine a teaser for Knight Rider with the new KITT coming from the distance in the desert and a new version of the opening theme playing in a teaser and tell me fans won´t get excited...

I've heard about a knight rider movie for years now, i wish they'd make it already!!

I liked the idea of michael passing on the torch to his son i hope they still go this route.

And i want the orginal voice for KITT damn it!!

I don't think anyone would be against William Daniels reprising his role. Get Clancy Brown for KARR, if it's in the movie.

Yeah, I think the supporting cast is easy enough to cast.

The tough one is Michael. It's not an easy role to cast.....atleast, it depends on what way they're going with him.

Well word has been buzzing around that this is supposedly a picture of the next KITT. Very disappointing. GM fans will be mad...Dont know if its 100% confirmed, just got it off someone who visits Mustang forums.

It's going to be a Shelby GT 500KR Was hoping for the Camaro at least despite it have its spotlight in Transformers.
