Expect MGS4 to be in playable form next E3. He gave me a "hint" as he put it, and said to expect it to follow like all the MGS games have done in the past. In that they were always shown in playable form for the first time in the same year they were released.

MGS4 will be 1080. I'm assuming 1080p, but he said 1080. He said Sony is "forcing" them to do it in 1080. He hesitated when he said this. Im thinking he could not find the right word, and chose to say "forcing."

No way it will fit on a DVD9. Wouldn't give me a number as how big the game will be. But went on about how Sony is pushing HD content and in no way will it be possible to fit it on a normal DVD, and BD is totally necessary for MGS4.

- still learning the PS3. A lot of things are moving along nicely, but they are also struggling with other things. Because of this he told me this is the biggest MGS team ever, and they have tons of people working on the game. Since its a next gen PS3 game. Made it seem like it was kinda hard to develope on PS3 thus far.

-Tilt controller might be used for cracking necks. I asked him about the tilt controller, and he said there testing a lot of things out. I said how I thought it would be really cool if you could crack guards necks with the controller. He laughed and sai another team member came up with the same idea, and there testing it out. He kept reiterating the fact, "ther estill making it"

Kojima has idea's about another ZOE wouldnt confirm anything. But said he thought Kojima wanted to do another one, but is busy with MGS4 right now. Didnt know wether he meant there are already plans for a next ZOE, or already has ideas for it. Whastever it is, it means will will most liekly see a ZOE3 sometime in the future.

Lucky 'Kojima meeting' bastard :(

If Sony is 'forcing' them to do the game in 1080p.. then I'm guessing it probably won't turn out as good as it could.. I mean, if they were willingly able to do it in 1080p themselves, it'd turn out much better than being forced to do it. : /

That "No way it'll fit on DVD9" crap is bull****. If the Mammoth which is ES: Oblivion can fit on a DVD9 quite comfortably at around 6-7gigs.. there's no way a FPS will surpass that point. Unless they're loading it to hell with cinematics and etc, etc. : / Otherwise.. it is very unlikely that they could not make it work on a DVD9.. PS3 Propaganda, sounds like. :down

Its going to have like 6 hours of video on the disc for the game (Plus its in HD too now) So I am guessing all that would easily take up 8 or 9 Gb its self.

Six hours? Damn, that's alot of video.. for ANY game. Hopefully it's cinematics don't drag and *****-foot around then.. otherwise you're going to be watching 30 minute clips of video that bore the hell out of you. :(

dvd-9 not big enough?

i have to laugh at that... being as that every "pro" in these forums claimed that any next gen game could fit on a dvd-9. well, what now? hm?

What now? What is now is that they wasted probably near 5 gigs on the video alone. That's what now. Any developer that was planning on making a, let's say, normal game with the average amount of cinematics for a FPS could fit it on a DVD-9. Has nothing to do with the actual games expanse. Sounds more like they're just filling it with useless HD cutscenes all over the place. :down :o

hm... okay, you video game expert.

since when is metal gear solid 4 a first person shooter? and yeah, i'm sure that metal gear 4 has just soooooOoooo many more cinemtaics than any other game out there, so that it's the only game that'll need to use blu-ray, as opposed to dvd-9. i'm sure that every other game will be able to squeeze itself onto a dvd-9... metal gear is the only one that is just so huge that it won't fit.

shut up.

Um.. well, since it's ALWAYS been a FPS. In one way or another, it is an FPS since you are literally shooting a gun, and fighting bosses with said guns, and all of this is in real time. It also has the normal range of a FPS.. which is a shorter storyline that is more action-oriented than say, a RPG or adventure game. What else is it? Maybe a stealth FPS? It's still a FPS. Six hours dedicated to cinematics is a ridiculous amount. Seriously, how many cutscenes are they trying to pack into this game? Oblivion only took up 6 gigs on a DVD9.. and that game is graphically well done, along with having a HUGE game world. Not to mention it has radiant AI, thousands of possible quests and storylines, and thousands of NPCs in the game world. If all of that can fit in a DVD9 with 3 gigs of space left over, so should any MGS game. :o :down

ugh... metal gear is not a first person shooter.

What is it then? Because it basically IS. Maybe a 'stealth' differentiation on a FPS.. but what else would you categorize it as?

i wish that all of the bad things in life happen to you, and you alone.

You still haven't given me an answer. I would appreciate that very much before you start letting your ineptitude leak from the corners of your mouth. Or from your fingers. However you want to phrase it.

I mean, it might not be a FPS in the traditional sense, but it shares many qualities with a FPS.. which makes it, in my mind, a subgenre of a FPS, if not a hybrid.

To further edit my post: FPS is such a broad genre nowadays, that leaks into so many different types of gameplay, that MGS would fit in being considered a FPS. : /

Metal Gear Solid isn't played in first person, which thereby disqualifies it as a First Person Shooter. As for the amount of video, that's pretty much in line with the other MGS games, which have really complex story lines.

LOL @ The guy who was arguing that MGS is an FPS!!

It holds many of the qualities of a FPS. And, nowadays.. people don't categorize games by exactly what perspective they're played in for the majority of the game : / What is it then, a TPS? Third Person Shooter?

It still holds most of the qualities that designates a game as a "Shooter". FPS has just become the adopted name for "shooters" in general. I'm sorry I was using a generalization.

That has nothing to do with my argument in the first place, so it is a moot point. But six hours of video is a hell of a lot for any game, and that's mainly the reason why it didn't fit on a DVD9. I'm sorry if a technicality incensed any of you. I'll stop making generalizations to suit your incomparable abilities to beat around the ****ing bush. :down

I wouldn't be surprised if sony ''forced'' them to make the game fit on the bluray disc completely, too....

remember how before he said it would work fine on a 360, now normal dvds aren't good enough? smells fishy to me....

Definitely so. Sony's trying to make the statement that they are somehow better, but they're failing miserably at it.

It's either a TPS or a Stealth game. But it's DEFINATELY not a FPS.

I'm sorry. I said I was generalizing based on the designation Shooter. It's what I do sometimes. Everyone generalizes at some point in their lives. Lay off. Wasn't the point of my argument anyways. :(

I don't know what you were arguing about, but if someone makes a mistake, I'll be sure to point it out.

I wish I could meet Kojima. MGS4 sounds like its gonna be a BIG game. I can't wait.

LOL I can imagine Joss whedon, Bendis and Joe Q sitting around talking and Kojima approaches them.

''Hi guys....I'm Hideo Kojima.''

Dead silence for exactly thirty seconds.

Joe: ''Joss, give this kid an autograph so he can be on his way''.

But seriously, Kojima should just ask for tips on writing from people at the con so he can improve and be just a crappy writer instead of uwe boll esque.

Im glad Sony chose Blu-Ray, or else this game wouldnt even come out.
