This is a pleasant surprise, love me some big monster carnage and Skull Island! :hyper:

I'll see it! I was just watching the extended version of the '05 remake and was surprised by how much new footage was in there with Skull Island and its creatures.

I liked Peter Jackson's King Kong but the major flaw with it was that it was entirely too long which is a reoccurring theme with his movies. A good 30-40 mins of that movie could have been cut. However, the skull island scenes are the highlight of the movie and if this new prequel movie takes place entirely on Skull island and we see Kong fighting more T Rex's and stuff I am down!

Also, have any of you been to Universal Studios Hollywood? The king king ride/ experience on the studio tour is pretty awesome though super short. You really feel as those you are in the middle of a fight between Kong and the T Rex's. It's what I hope this new prequel movie does for audiences.

Was it possible to see what size the Kong was by the teaser trailer? Was he like in the 2005 movie or very big so he could fight Godzilla?

He's pretty darn big! He looks more like the 1933 film than the 2005 on did. I think he can take on Godzilla. He'll need to be careful though so he doesn't get hit with atomic breath.

This came out of nowhere and it's an awesome surprise,Loving the concept

Does anyone here like the 1976 remake? I understand why people think it's not very good but I like it. It also has great soundtrack. But the sequel King Kong Lives is really bad though. :D

The only good thing that came from that "film" was the ride in Orlando which is no longer with us rip :(

****ing mummy movies:cmad:

Now this is a movie which has my attention. Lots of potential.

I went on the King Kong 360 3D ride, and that was good fun.

Loved seeing Jessica Lang's boobs in the movie.:hubba

I'm looking forward for this film!

I love the 2005 King Kong film!

I wasn't the biggest fan of the 1976 movie. I really liked the 2005 one though.

Love, love, LOVE the 2005 King Kong movie, loved the original as a kid as well, so this is welcome surprise to me, more Kong is always awesome.

Any news on director or cast, and if this is linked to any of the previous KK movies?

Has anyone read the book that this supposed to be based on?

I wouldn't mind another King Kong movie as long as it's shorter than PJ's & has a much more bestial Kong. Maybe take the height up to about 35-40 feet or so instead of 25.

But yeah, I'd be on board if it's something good to be done. Let's hope so.

Yes to the former. No to the latter.

Hell, just let Cornish direct and write.

They may want to recapture the Godzilla tone, but not get too experimental.

I was more excited at the prospect of Neil Marshall than Joe Cornish.

What do you think about Legendary doing another King Kong with Guillermo del Toro?
JACKSON:
I don’t know anything about it. I’m hearing it from you, for the first time. I would look forward to it. If Guillermo did King Kong, that would be great. That would be fantastic. I’ll be there on the first day, and will help him with anything he needs. I’ve always wondered, if in my lifetime, whether we’re going to see The Lord of the Rings film remade, or The Hobbit remade. How long will it actually last or survive until someone remakes it? It will be interesting to see. But with Kong, we were the ones who remade it for the third time.
SERKIS: I didn’t even realize there was another version being made. Guillermo is a great director, so I’m sure he’ll make an extraordinary film.

Indeed. Also neglected to mention it was an 'origin story' of sorts, rather than a straight remake.
