Oh, well some hope at least. Not sure why they can’t make a Spidey film featuring new villains like Kraven rather than having to make the film after the villain.

I thought the idea was to adapt the story replacing Spiderman with Tom Hardy's Venom.

That isn't what the writer said they were doing. The Venom being subbed for Spider-Man thing has never come from a reliable source, so that is just fan ideas as of now. We shall.see if anything changed, but last word on this was Spider-Man will be featured

This is good to me because at least it drops any last pretense that Sony might have with their movies being in the MCU...

Oh wait, Keaton is set to appear in Morbius... What a huge unnecessary mess...
Requiem for a big cleanup with No Way Home with the multiverse shenanigans

The overriding villain in Spider-Verse should be Sony (hopefully defeated by the end of the film). :D

Few years ago people were saying the same about Vemon. Its fair to say alot of people went to see that. So its not about whether anyone asked for it. Does anyone ask for half the marvel properties we get? Its more about how a studio sells an idea.

Fairly good point. I mean, was anyone asking for Eternals or even Shang-Chi?

I have to say ATJ does not have the voice for this. I’m cautiously optimistic but on paper this just doesn’t work

Those movies aren’t looking great. It’s weird that they’re scraping the well with those D-listers. I guess those films were set in motion before the Fox acquisition so it kinda makes sense. Both Eternals and Shang Chi are definitely going to be home viewings for me. I’ll read the spoilers and I’m curious how they enrich the MCU as a whole, but they look like some of the first MCU duds.

I agree. I have no interest in these spin off projects not featuring the main hero.

Yep. It's a bizarre choice that suggests Sony's people are either out of ideas or they're so out of touch with the property that they don't know what bounderies you should set for adapting these characters. Probably both.

I mean, at least they still aren’t doing that Aunt May movie. That was bottom of the barrel.

Venom was such a huge hit and Sony is running low on hot intellectual properties so I can't be surprised they're doing a Kraven movie.

Though I'd prefer they save him for SM4.

Well what boundaries are there? what the comics set up?

Thing is Sony can do whatever they want with this character. they all have a characterization they an play with. ironically Marvel themselves certainly have with Spider-man. let alone Sony.

In that respect. Sony ain't doing anything Marvel wouldn't do. people are just accustome to thinking Marvel = Faithful, Sony = Wrong.

Nonsense. Marvel get criticised for their creative decisions all the time.

Sony is just trying to milk any Marvel properties they have left. Unfortunately for them, all they have are bunch of Spider-Man villains... which means a slew of anti-hero origin stories that nobody asked for.

They do, but it's usually by a minority of fans.

For the most part, the majority of fandom has confidence in Marvel given their track record and reputation. That extends beyond fans to critics and The GA.

Feige is a geek god basically, and can do no wrong in alot of fans minds.

Sony , however , doesn't have the same leeway in fandom, fair or not.

Sony has Avi Arad and Amy Pascal who've been the subject of derision and scolding for the past couple of decades . Sony , in alot of fans minds, is synonyms, with micro management, off the wall ideas, greed, and bad decisions.

Whether that's fair or not is a separate issue, but that is the perception Sony has.

They are going to run the well totally dry eventually. It's in the nature of having rights that expire if you don't make a film every few years, and this is a narrow set of rights all linked to one character. If they break even and make no money on a film they at least preserve the rights, which are worth a lot.

This was better news than Keanu getting the role...ATJ could channel Tom Hardy-esque acting abilities and nail it.

They could pull this off especially in a world where villains are being made into more sympathetic characters. All that is required to convince 90% of you to see the Kraven movie is a good enough trailer.

My only gripe is he is Quicksilver lol.

ATJ is a good actor, and I've been following him since Nowhere Boy where he played John Lennon.
So in terms of him as an actor, I'm not concerned in pulling off Kraven.

I'd feel alot more confident in Feige was taking the reigns of this project , but in terms of ATJ as an actor, I'm confident.
