Krrish..India's attempt at superhero movies

I work at a movie theater that has at least one Indian film a month. Krrish was this month's movie, a new almost spider-man like movie without much computer generation and more singing.

I didn't know what it was about so i went to go see it on my 30 minute break and the first thirty minutes were pretty damn exciting. It's an ok movie overall once i saw it later.

Just imagine seeing matrix action, with a spider-man kind of story line with bollywood movie singing...that's Krrish.

anyone heard about it as well? It's the first of it's kind for India and it might spawn other countries besides the US to make their own superhero movies. what do you think?

It's a proven fact that, unless it's animated, a superhero movie will bomb if it's not based in a comic book.

it's got the biggest opening of the last 10 years... it's already made half of its invest ment back and kids are loving it

it's mainly a kids film, really nothing more... kids are coming out in droves to see it... this is the kind of Box office Superman wish he had, but won't

From what I understand, it only cost (US)$10 million to make. It would be hard to believe that it would not get its money back.

I understand that it is a prequel to a film that was originally marketed in Singapore. See the Wiki on the film for a synopsis. Note the similarities in the promo poster to the films "Blade", "The Matrix" and "Daredevil". You can go to this link to watch a few clips from the film. It looks like it is a lot better quality than some other Bollywood films.
