Kurt Sutter (one of the writers) talks about the new Punisher movie:

"It sounds like they've got the script in great shape. Matt Holloway and Art Marcum are the guys who turned Ironman around. Solid director. Not sure who's idea it was to lay Frank at Lexi's feet, but it was really smart -- like Sam Raimi directing Spiderman smart. Talented actor. I've only seen a few episode of Rome, but Ray is very compelling to watch -- complex and foreboding. I think he'll bring a depth and menace to Castle that we've never seen before. After a few missteps this could be the movie to put the franchise on the right path.

Only -- too much interference by the studio and a lame re-write to accommodate the ego of a big movie star who might be interested in Jigsaw if only the role were a bit juicier -- could **** it up now... and we know that never happens."

Big movie star? Interesting.

Somebody tell me what he's talking about here. Is that aimed at someone specific?

Forgive me, I'm a little slow tonight but that quote has had me wondering since I first read it.

To me, it sounded like it was directed to someone.

I just think he needs to relax... there's no point in trashing anybody over hypothetical stuff. Not when you're a paid writer... can you imagine writing this stuff in public about your own jobs? I can't imagine any of us would get away with it. I'm not saying he's unprofessional but it is business and he shouldn't get so emotional.

Everyone start naming a-hole celebrities that come to mind that could be playing Jigsaw.

It obviously can't be John Travolta this time again.

I'm going throw Marky Mark out there just for the hell of it.

He is suggesting somebody very specific but it has nothing to do with the casting of Jigsaw. :)

Could you imagine being a paid writer and having someone publicly put down your work without consideration and without explanation. I think on many occassions Jane publicly stated in interviews about how he's just "waiting for a decent script" or how "if they could just get a good script". Good to who? Now imagine being the screenwriter having your work put down like that. It's all subjective if he has one idea on what is good and the studio has another, and the fans have even another.

I remember Jane saying these things but I never once considered the people who were given a short window to write a script (a month or less) and with the studio giving the writer guidelines to strictly follow. If you think about it it's not cool and I don't honestly think Jane was thinking of it either. I think people should just be more careful with their words and consider everyone involved in the process and not just themselves. If I were Kurt I'd throw in my 2 cents too.

If he can't handle criticism then he shouldn't be a writer.

Since when did standing up for your work mean you can't handle criticism. That's how I would define handling criticism.

If you cant put out a fantastic Punisher script with the 30 solid years of stories, you might ought to consider another line of work. Sorry, but The Punisher just write itself. Hell, even I wrote one.

Thats no jab at anyone, mind you. Just an opinion on time constraints when dealing with a Punisher script. Yes, I also understand oodles of people get to have their say over what a writer can put into the script.

The world needs thicker skin, fact. I like Kurt Sutter, wouldve loved to have read his script. Curious to see how much of his stuff is in the final product.

It sounds more like you can't handle him speaking his mind. :oldrazz: He he. I understand why each of them said what they said. No biggie.

2006

He was given the characters he could use, and handed someone elses script to do a rewrite on. He had less than month to do it. That's what he was paid for if I understand it correctly. Keep in mind it was his rewrite of Nick Santora's rewrite of Jonathan Henleigh's draft whic his now being rewritten by Marcum and Holloway.

Is Sutter the guy that wrote the script where the last fight took place in a department store?

But he's not standing up for himself. This "insider" for latinoreview.com who set him off probably doesn't represent the studio itself, and if they do, well that's a whole other can of worms. At this point he's just screaming at fans and screaming at the studio when it's one person who he should be cross with. Predicting a failure for the studio (which wasn't technically responsible for the last film) only means he's hurting people who haven't hurt him. If he didn't like the situation he didn't have to take the job.

So to re-iterate, the studio didn't take a shot at him... why should he attack them? Especially when his marriage is more of a career highlight than most of the stuff he's done.

^ Where are you going with that and why Neo? You lost me.

Forget it. Just drop it.

why are they even making a sequel to this garbage ?

why are they even making a sequel to this garbage ?

I could say the same for Superman Returns. Hey troll, go back to your Superman boards.

Why is it that you can't read? Once you learn the value of comprehension than perhaps you would understand that this is not a sequel any more than the Incredible Hulk is. If you thought the first film was garbage and question the reason for another movie...why are you here?

Why doesn't this gutless foo' just say who's the comment directed at instead of pussyfooting around the damn bushes....

What was your problem with SR? I thought it was a great movie.

Look at his posts, he likes Superman. I'm making a point. It's easy to say the movie you like is garbage. But to back it up with why you don't like it, is something that would require a brain. :unishr:
