L.A Fitness Shooting

It’s being reported by Fox news that L.A. Fitness Center in Bridgeville, a tiny community close to Pittsburgh, is the scene of a multiple murder in a women’s aerobics class. The shooter turned off the lights and began to open fire.

Six people have been shot to death and more than a dozen have been injured. A witness reports she was exercising when a lone gunman entered the Center through the back door, turned off the lights and began firing at people in the Latin dance class.

Allegheny County police report they were notified by phone that someone was shooting in the gym. One witness reported hearing between 10 and 15 shots. The shooter is among the dead.

Little else is known at this time. We will bring you updates as they’re made available.

George Sodini, 48 ,has been identified as the shooter in the Pittsburgh Gym massacre. He killed himself after murdering at least 3 women and injuring numerous others. The dead are Heidi Overmier, 46, of Carnegie; Elizabeth Gannon, 49, of Pittsburgh; and Jody Billingsley, 38, of Mount Lebanon.
It’s alleged that Sodini kept an online journal and blogged about his plans for the killing rampage. His entries also detailed his immense dislike of women, including his mother.
He was also a member of the gym.

Charles Moffatt, Allegheny County police superintendent stated:
“He did what he set out to do, and I think nobody could have stopped him. ”

I think he’s probably right.

I live like five miles from where it happened and go to the Destinta movie theater close to there all the time. Very sad what happened. And very frustrating to find out he had been writing about this in a blog for the past few months. Very frightening.

It's getting crazy around here. This is the second deadly shooting rampage in Pittsburgh this year. The first one where a guy shot and killed three Pittsburgh police officers.

And they are having the G-20 Summit here in September. They will probably be upping security times ten now.

One of the women killed was the instructor of the class and she was pregnant. It was her last night instructing before she took leave. That is just really messed up. Of course, the coward had to kill himself.

They also found a note in the bag that he carried the guns in but they are not releasing what the note said as of yet. Also, he got off 52 rounds in the rampage and they are saying one of the weapons he had was automatic.

Paradoxium is right - he's not a bad-looking guy and he had a good job. But if he openly displayed his hatred of women (and people in general) and was a loner, no duh he isn't gonna get dates! But of course in his selfishness, it's ALWAYS the woman's fault they won't go for a catch like him.

Actually this article says that the pregnant instructor survived and the unborn child was not harmed. She took two bullets in the shoulders, but will be all right.
