LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) - IBM has won a contract to build what could become the worlds fastest supercomputer at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The supercomputer will use the processor developed for the PlayStation 3 video game system, which is due out in November.
The U.S. Department of Energy says the Roadrunner supercomputer could be capable of running up to a quadrillion 1,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second
