If that art is ok to print, why can't I break into the biz?

I made a rant about this on my Livejournal.

For those of you who don't want to click on my awesome link here are my samples:

Batman:

And my version of a Clayface/Batman battle. Very Jim Lee IMO:

I mean, that's awesome ****, better than Liefeld. Come on, someone has to hire me right? Come on Marvel, DC, Image, Top Cow etc.

Wow That X-factor art is god awful. But I would love to open up an Batman Comic book and see Booyah!

I try to be open to art, but this is the wrong art direction for a title like X-Factor. Madrox (the character previewed the most) looks all kinds of wrong. That I remember, Jamie's never gone toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson, so why does his face look like that? For that matter, why does everybody's face look inconsistently smushed?

No offense to Stroman, but this reminds me too much of 90's art. Have they mentioned how long he's going to be on X-Factor?

Jesus Christ that's terrible. On the other hand, your Superman is Divine.

Yikes, that's fugly. It's like if someone told Liefeld to use John Romita Jr's style to draw Madrox as Sin City's Marv. But I've suffered through worse art for great writing before.

I don't know. It seems like some artsy fartsy indie comic stuff. high concept. The size of everybody's butt gives me visions of old school underground comics. Not the sorta thing that should be used for Superhero comics.

I'm not getting "high concept" from that art at all, dude.

That's because you haven't seen enough indie comics with crappy art.

Son, I probably own more indie comics that you're aware of, much less seen.

Batman Looks like Snoopy dressed as Batman. "Curse you Red B... I mean Joker!!!!"

Well, it's like this. You like Kevin Eastman? Guy made Ninja Turtles? What would you say if he did the art for, say the next big X-Men run with, I don't know, Alan Moore. Would that be appealing to you? Probably not. His art is good for indie stuff. Good for the random Heavy Metal pic of his wife's fabulous boobs, but not so much drawing Wolverine slicing up sentinels.

I think Stroman, on a book about, I don't know, alternate reality space pirates or something, or hippies in the 60's kidnapped by Aliens would work. Not so much on X-Factor.

Well, I'd totally buy a Moore and Eastman X-Men book. Sounds like fun to me. Stroman, on the other hand, wouldn't work for much. I just don't like his style.

Neither do I, but I'd tolerate it a lot more on a book about hippies getting anally probed by Nixon looking aliens.

That sounds sort of similar to The Tripper...

Looking at Stroman's art makes me rethink my stance on Chris Bachalo.

Yeah, it really makes you appreciate the awesomeness of Chris Bachalo even more.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!! :woot:

That X-Factor art is funny as hell! And why does Madrox have an M on his face now? It's been a while since I've read X-Factor.

A Dupe of his and Layla Miller got stuck in the Future during Messiah Complex and got put in a Mutant Concentration Camp. In the camp, instead of getting tats on their wrists like Jews during WWII, they get a big ass M tatted on their Face. In order to get the info they learned back to the X-Men, the Dupe went and got himself killed, or rather Layla got the Dupe Killed. So, Madrox passed out, then when he woke up, he had the Dupes M on his face. Also, whenever Layla comes back all grown up and hot, she's gonna have a big ass M on her face as well.

Holy ****, please don't tell me that X-Factor art is for real. :funny:

I may have to drop this book if Stroman is permanent. That's just...embarrassing to look at.

I move to make me the next X-Factor artist.

Another tiny (and obvious) detail: it was the same mutant camp Bishop grew up in.

Dang, Stroman couldn't even be bothered to draw Jamie's shirt properly. It's a really, really simple shirt, too.
