It's one of Brando's best films, but now its been ruined thanks to social media:

While Schneider knew about the rape scene, she didn't know Brando was going to smear her rear end with butter. Bertolucci admitted that part was non-consensual, which is sexual assault. Shame.

So then it's really just been ruined by Bertolucci and Brando.

From Schneider's 2007 interview:

"That scene wasn't in the original script. The truth is it was Marlon who came up with the idea," she says.
"They only told me about it before we had to film the scene and I was so angry.

"We stayed friends until the end, although for a while we couldn't talk about the movie. Undoubtedly, my best experience about making the film was my encounter with Marlon.

And her 2007 interview concludes with this:

"I like to see friends and go to the market and cook. But I never use butter to cook any more," she laughs. "Only olive oil."

Brando is still my favorite actor of ALL time, but still sexual assault. I also see that some folks around the net believe that Brando actually stuck his fingers/penis, but this aint the truth, still sexual assault yes, but Brando did not actually have real sex with her.

The film in general hasn't aged really well beyond Brando's performance. Certainly hasn't held up like the Passenger. But then Bernardo is a far cry from Antonioni.

More like thanks to social media, more people are now thankfully aware of this. Schneider already talked about this in the past but I guess nobody cared it didn't cause this much noise until it spread around in the internet that Bertolucci flat out admitted it. It's disgusting and is obviously a sexual assault.

So then it's really just been ruined by Bertolucci and Brando.

The interview was from three years ago, but it didn't become news until Jessica Chastain made the false claim that Schneider was actually raped onscreen a few days ago.

I wasn't really surprised at the news. Bertolucci has always been a pervert and Marlon Brando, acting talent aside, was kind of a s**tty person (at least once he hit middle age). They were horrible to do that without first consulting with Schneider, but I don't consider it rape. It's more of a sexual assault, but it still doesn't make it any better.

It's not a false claim. She was sexually assaulted on film.

I still believe his performance in this movie is the best acting performance ever put on screen.

She was, but she wasn't penetrated by Brando's penis from behind like the social justice warriors wants everybody to believe. That part after the butter was simulated with Schneider's consent.

I'm still confused as to how some now believe Brando actually had sex with her onscreen, still sexual assault tho.

"Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears.

Social media ruined this? Like seriously, are you for real? Wow.

It doesn't ruin the film for me, I knew about Schneider's past interview, but it show's how out- of-touch this old artist is by admitting that in today's reactionary PC climate.

Maybe the exact legal definition of rape, but the legal definition of rape is pretty ****ed up.

It's a 44 year old classic that didn't get sh** on until a female director Tweeted about it.

How's that change the fact the someone got sexually assaulted?

It doesn't, but the fake news going around that this:

578949_photoset-maudit-omg-marlon-brando-rape_200s.gif

was actually happening onscreen. That is false. Schneider said there was no penetration by Brando.

Oh, Slushy..... never change.

I know that. But it's still sexual assault. It shouldn't come as any surprise that the film would take a pretty big hit given that information.

It is amazing how people can try and minimize sexual assault. Planned sexual assault no less.

I had no idea about this until yesterday. I am thinking it is because most film people like to hide this little disgusting fact.

It wasn't hidden back when the interview came out, it just didn't get the traction like it does in today's social media climate. I remember people discussing it though.

Sorry, I realize it wasn't hidden. What I mean is that it wasn't something that gets brought up unprovoked by those in the industry or cover it.

The thing that's so awful is that the attack was two-fold. It's not just just what Brando and the director did to her, it's also that the director completely dismissed her acting ability in the process.
