Uwe Boll Stages A "Massacre"
By Garth Franklin
Wednesday September 26th 2007 3:09am
Much-maligned filmmaker Uwe Boll ("Alone in the Dark," "Bloodrayne") is planning yet another video game adaptation - "Zombie Massacre" says Game Daily.

1988 Games is bringing the shooter game exclusively to the Nintendo Wii shortly, and Boll will shoot the $6 million project in Vancouver in 2009.

The goal of the game is to drive a fully-armed nuclear warhead (that's stowed in the trunk of their vintage 1950s convertible) into the center of a city overflowing with zombies.

After depositing the weapon, players will then have to make it out of the city just as quickly as they entered it before the warhead detonates.

"I'd like Zombie Massacre to be a harsh zombie movie like 28 Days Later" says Boll who's also developing adaptations of Sabotage 1943 and Legend: Hand of God. He's currently finishing up work on Far Cry, which he shot in Vancouver this Summer.

This guy doesn't know when to quit. It's unbelievable.

My favorite part there is his quote, as there were no zombies in 28 Days Later...

That's a technicality. 28 days later is still generally considered a "zombie movie".

Either way, this movie and the game it's based on sounds incredibly stupid, with or without our friend Uwe.

Dosen't he still get money even though his films flop due to some German tax loophole?

Why do you guys hate Uwe Boll so much? I just looked him up on imdb and saw the movies he's made and I gotta be honest with you, I don't think any director could have made those films any good. I just don't see many video games translating to screen very well. The only video game movie I could ever give two s**ts about would be Grand Theft Auto.

Im sure some of them could have, some of the shots in the films that make it look cheap as hell and really chessy

Well, at least (judging by this choice) good ol' Uwe is running out of games he is allowed to adapt...

Well, I guess I should really shut up. I've only seen House of the Dead, and I don't even think Spielberg could have saved that script. But maybe some of the others would have been better with another director. If this guy's so bad, how does he keep getting work?

Wikipedia said:
Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff.
(...)
Because of this, in January 2006, as had been expected for several months, the German legislature changed the country's tax laws to eliminate the tax shelter. It is not known if this will have any effect on Boll's funding as the new laws only seek to punish investors who are abusing the law for tax purposes; Boll's activities appear to be well within the legitimate usage of the tax shelter.

except Spielberg, and most directors with half a brain for that matter (or that are more than DTV material), would know better than to even shoot that script.

hell, Boll decided to change the script of Alone In The Dark (which was allegedly more of a claustrophobical thriller a la Alien) into the clusterf**k it turned out to be, so guess what? the fault's entirely his own for being such a dimwitted f**k.

Okay, can somebody please just hire a hit man to kill this guy already?

Where the hell is 47 when we need him the most?!

I'm glad to see that...

1) His budgets have gone from $60 million (Dungeon Siege) down to 6! That was the budget he had for House of the Dead fer chrissake!

2) Instead of doing high profile games like Far Cry and BloodRayne, he's now adapting games nobody's even HEARD of!
