My buddy's dad is over there for the British army.

Best of luck to you, Crunchin. From what I hear the US Army is mostly playing support for the Iraqis.

I wish you a safe tour and may God watch over you.

Looking forward to having you back soon.

When you get back try to remember to post here to let us know you're okay.

Stay safe and thank you for your service to our country, no matter how I may feel about our involvement over there.

I won't ask anything stupid, but all I will say is good luck, keep safe and come home soon.

Wow, I've seen several documentaries and shows that followed guys around for months/years and while of course they're not crippled by terror, they are scared, depending on the area and duties.
Maybe you'll get more scared when you're actually there, where every single time a car's speed varies you all have to draw your guns and get ready to avoid having your foot, ass or face blown off for no good reason.

You know, we don't have a draft. Everyone knows what they're signing up for.

Don't get me wrong. I'm thankful for our soldiers and proud of them and never fail in my personal support. But a lot of people sign up (with the risks involved made perfectly clear) for the check, or because they can't get anything else kickstarted in life.

I didn't say all. I'm not even saying it's 50%. But there's a large number of people who fall into that category.

Take Care, Crunchin!

Good luck, Godspeed and all that jazz.

1. It's Iraqi, not Iraqian.

2. Your statement sounds rather racist.

3. Views on the Iraq War aside, why the hell would anyone WANT to get called there? I'm not saying this as an opponent of the Iraq War. I'm not saying that desertion is the way to go, if you get sent to go, you should and have to go. But why would you actually want to go?

You make a very good point. When I hear stories of people who SIGNED up and refuse to go to Iraq, I find it very cowardly. I don't support the Iraq War due to the mismanagement there, but when someone joins the military, they better know the risks (i.e. going to war).

Good luck and hope that you make it out safe.

Bring your iPOD!
That would rock to jam out to Master of Puppets or some Mudvayne while you're blastin' 'em!

Maybe someone signed up to defend America not kill for oil resources?

Then they signed for the wrong reasons. You sign up for the military knowing that you will be serving our country and our military in whatever way they deem necessary.

Eros and Fred Fury have been in Boot Camp for 25 years.

That doesn't matter. If you sign up for the military you do what they tell you to do, and as long as it is not illegal (like shooting an unarmed civilian or performing torture), there is no debate. You do it, no questions asked. The military is not a democracy.

People who sign up know this.
