I performed a search and didn't see a topic for this movie yet. If there is one, please feel free to delete this thread. I just watched the 2nd chapter, and I found it really compelling. It invigorated a good discussion among my family around this highly under-reported issue. I'm a loner... an introvert.. so why can I count on two hands the amount of people I've known who have been sexually abused as children?
The film also brings up issues of credibility. Critics ask, why did these 'victims' change their story? I think many of us can appreciate that this is actually the norm - victims tend to blame themselves, and tend to be afraid to speak out against their victimizer.
So for me, I felt their testimony in the movie to be compelling and convincing. What did everyone else think?
Michael is innocent. As a psychologist, I believe he had Arrested Psychological Development. This was caused by trauma he suffered throughout his childhood, for example, the pressures of being famous at a very young age, and the mental & physical abuse he suffered from his father.
Psychologically, Michael never developed past ages 13-14. This will explain his childlike behaviour in later adult life. He was taken advantage of, by people around him, for monetary purposes and monetary gain. He was an easy target.
WE ALL NEED TO DEMAND PUBLIC ACCESS TO MICHAEL'S MENTAL HEALTH RECORDS. This will explain a lot to us, and
answer many questions.
