Here's the ultimate movie battle of all time, folks.

On-a one side we have Ridley Scott's strange fantasy film and on the other side we have Peter Jackson's rip-off of Ridley Scott's fantasy film.

now here's my opinion. I think Lotr is a brilliant remake of Legend that actually surpasses the original, yet doesn't quite capture the same magic that the original had, which i find hard to define. Maybe it was the lack of tim Curry as the bad guy.

Now begin the battle!

your joking right?

YES, you can't say you love movies if you haven't seen Ridley's strangest film ever.

Cinematically, I agree with you Lotr does borrow(much better term considering that's what art is) from Legend. However story-wise LotR came way before Legend. Now let's talk turkey... I LOVE Ridley Scott, the man is a god to me. Kingdom of Heaven DC, Alien, Blade Runner, Matchstick Men, etc... However Legend is boring as hell and the dialouge is terrible from what I remember. The effects and cinematography are great... But the movei drags like no one's buesiness but... Due to my love for Scott, I bought the DVD anyway...

I absolutely adore Legend, it's certainly the best fantasy film AFTER the LotR trilogy.

What's really amazing is that Legend looks as incredible, if not more incredible, than the LotR films, and was made 15 years earlier with no CGI and far less money.

Legend is entertaining. LOTR (extended) is a masterpiece.

I'm reckless and I just buy films, usually before I've even seen them.:o

I do the same... Hell cinematically it's beautiful and make-up is great to boot but I don't know when I'll ever watch it again, it's way too boring...

Mia Sara. Oh my.....

*Eyes glaze over. Begins to drool. Bashes head off desk. Slips into coma*

I've seen Legend after hearing how great it was. It had some great production values, and Tim Kurry is always great. But overall the movie was crap.

I'm sorry, but the only thing I liked about Legend was Tim Curry. :o

Is this topic a joke? Ridiculous. LOTR easily.

Legend is a great movie, totally ahead of its time.

but Wes you're comparing it to the Oliphaunt that is LOTR. LOTR wins hands down because not only is it good in its own merits, but it improved on the shortcomings that Legend has.

it would be a fairer comparisson if it was say... Legend vs Ladyhawke.

This like comparing Star Wars OT to Space Pirates. :o

I still voted for Legend BTW. :ninja:

LOTR is NOT a remake of Legend.
Please confirm you are joking with that statement.

That being said I'm ALSO a huge fan of the cinematography, Sets and makeup in Legend but I have to say as an artist I can't see ANY of this movie being an influence for LOTR. Jackson based all the art direction from old paintings, New Zealand backdrops and realistic historic design.

Legend is more childrens fairytale, whilst LOTR is straight fantasy.
Legend was an experiment that failed as a movie. LOTR is one of the best trilogies.
Personally I love both but LOTR wins by far.
