David meets his oldest enemy.

Written by Noah Hawley & Nathaniel Halpern; directed by Ana Lily Amirpour.

Not even 5 minutes in, and I am already confused.

EDIT: Musical action sequence!!!

Look at the bright side, Syd. At least in your future, there are no Sentinels. That we know of, anyway. But really liked Lenny and Oliver wreaking havoc in Division Three...as well as the visual of Cary's arm sticking out of Kerry. They tried WAY too hard to become Multiple Man.

Well, Navid Negahban knocked it out of the park in his first outing.

Whoops. Kerry's got the white streaks in her hair...she and Rogue would get along great.

And yeah, great conversation between David and Farouk, but also the conversation between Farouk and Lenny on what she'd do if she got her life back.

I wonder who the Monk will turn out to be. I am expecting plenty of speculation that it is [blackout]Sinister[/blackout]

Missed the Shi'ar name drop the first time I watched it.

David / Clark banter is the best.

Oh, and an Irrevesible shout out!

The visuals of that breaking and entering were amazing. This show is a kalidescope of amazing images.

Loved the reference to the Shi'ar and the stuff with "Future Syd" is really intriguing. Meanwhile, Melanie is giving off 70s Professor X vibes, and Kerry is going Rogue. Interesting little tidbit is also that the Androids are called "Vermilion" which of course brings us back to the color red, which throughout season 1 signifies danger for David.

All the dialog in this is wonderful and complicated, nuanced. It's not something cheaply done, somebody really thought it all out. :)

David talking to future Syd reminds me a bit of what Agents of SHIELD is doing right now.

Also, I thought Syd had to touch someone to change back, it didn't look like she touched the cat when she changed back into herself?

It wore off eventually. But, she said she was practicing with the cat in the first episode.

Another nutty episode and I love it. What was the Shi ar reference?

When Cary was talking to Kerry about the orb that David was trapped in, he says that it's advanced tech, but not Shi'ar.

Yeah, didn't he say, "This looks like something I would make,"?

He said he felt like it was something he *had* made, implying he did make it in the future.

Future Syd sounds Vermillion-ed.

Loved the Shi'ar namedrop. Gives credence that Legion just takes place in a weird post X-Men world where everything already kinda happened. Hence Cary knowing who the Shadow King was when he was brought into Oliver's psychic ice cube last season - because somehow the battles of the X-Men are somewhat known.

Big props to Ana Lily Amirpour's Legion debut! Love the esoteric directors Hawley has assembled this season, as this was definitely a real huge trip.

Navid Negahban knocked it out of the park this episode. It's hard to overshadow Plaza and Jemaine as the main avatars, but after seeing Navid here I'd be okay if he took over a large chunk this season. I was bummed Said Taghmaoui left, but I feel like Navid has a much older presence that suits Farouk. So charismatic.

Legion has a lot of great moments in each episode, but I think the brief scene of Lenny creeping out of the darkness like a serpent towards Cary may be one of my favorites. Felt like something out of a horror film.

The real Amahl Farouk was incredible, and scary even when being "friendly". I can't imagine what he'd be like if he were to fall to pieces the way Lenny did last season.

And what was that business with the monk? The order was wiped out by someone but one of them somehow knows where Farouk's body is?
