Did anyone notice that Hugh Jackman's vice seemed more gruff and deeper? Did he do that himself or did they alter it in post?

I also loved the little things like using Logan's tone and vocabulary. Not just the cursing but the use of "bub," "princess," darlin'" and even "Yuk" once when talking to Yukio.

That was all Jackman, and yeah, he definitely went all out this time around.

It's mentioned in X2 and even real slightly in X-Men.

And it's in this movie. He's gripping the armrests of the plane on the way to Japan and clearly uncomfortable with the turbulence, and in the last scene you see him make a face and go for the armrests again as they're about to go.

I ****ing loved this movie! Just one of the best experiences I've had with a comic book based movie. It didn't even feel like a comic book movie til the third act. Just a great character film. 9/10

I give it a solid 8/10. Viper was probably my only major gripe, she seems terribly acted to me similar to January Jones. Jackman knocked it out of the park IMO his best performance as Logan and that mid credit scene rivals the Batman Begins Joker card scene as the best setup scene in a CB movie.

AMC Stubs Card ($12 yearly subscription) tallys up every dollar you spend there, no limits. You get free upgrades on popcorn and soda. Any AMC ticket purchased online gets the 'convenince fee' waived. Since Poni Boy bought 20 tickets he probably saved like $25 from buying online. Lastly, for every $100 you spend you get $10 in credits to use.

So for people that go to the movies a lot that $12 is well worth it, especially if a single account is used among family/friends.

Yup. Plus it pays for itself because renewals are only $8. You'll easily have that much credit after a year at the movies even if you're only going once a month.

Seriously, it's the smartest thing they could have done. Not sure why Regal doesn't have something similar.

I love my AMC Stubs card. You also get coupons for a free soda on your birthday. Between that, and the $10 reward I had on my card, I got snacks for the three of us at the movie the other night for only $12.50.

I just got back from the Bon Jovi concert (I love them :hrt: ). It took everything I had not to yell "Hip replacement!" when some guy set off one of those metal detector wands going through security into the stadium. :oldrazz:

Yeah that mid credit scene was mouthwatering. I could have set there and watched a whole other movie just leading off from that. It was so ****ing awesome seeing Logan find some peace and then to see that smile after Prof X said "your not the only one with gifts". Awwwhhh I can't wait for Days of Future Past!

Out of the 5 times he's played Logan (6 if you include his FC cameo), this was the one where he fully became Wolverine.

The voice, the delivery, posture and just overall mannerisms in every scene was just perfection.

5/10

I was rather bored and uninterested in this story. Jackman's portrayal remains strong, but that's all this movie really had going for it. I didn't find the Yushida story exciting or interesting one bit. The action was pretty lame compared to recent comic book affairs. I get that it was going for something different, but it really bored me. With the story not working, the subdued action didn't help.

I was going to go with 6/10 but the last 30 minutes were so incredibly stupid that they take a point off. Possibly two points but I'm feeling generous.

No more solo Wolverine movies...please. He works so much better in the X-Team environment.

I just saw "The Wolverine" tonight and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The acting and pacing were great and the action was pretty good too. There were a few elements that didn't quite work in the plot, but it's nothing that makes or breaks the film.

Japan was a nice change of evironment from other cmb films, so I'm glad that went in that direction. Oh and the mid credits scene is definately in my top 3 mid/post credit scenes in a superhero movie.

Rate: 8/10

Or, you know, actually like it.

Plenty of "general audience" people actually like the movie.

Hey...i LIKED origin! being a huge Wolvie fan, but i do think that the movie wasn't really well liked by the GA. I don't think that people outright hated it-like the GL movie- but they just didnt like it either.

So, I give this movie a 7.5, the first two acts were done really good, the beginning with the Atom bomb and Wolverine living like an animal were good. The train scene and the Shingen fights were probably my favorite parts of the movie. I was disappointed in the ninja fight being cut, as well as the final showdown. The Mariko/Yukio/Logan scenes were ok as well, but I could see why some won't like this film. It was a character piece and the action was limited. The final showdown just sorta came out of nowhere. The plot wasn't as good as it could have been. I would have preferred a long and brutal Shingen with Silver Samurai armor fight at the end instead of the robot. Also viper wasn't needed at all. She was just there and showed up at the end with a bald head. The blue ray hopefully has an extended Shingen fight and ninja fight as well. The movie felt like it was missing action at some parts. Then maybe I could give it an 8. The post credit scene was really good as well. We are in for a crazy movie next year. Also Jackman really nailed the character here, but unfortunately the plot wasn't as good as it could have been.

If they hadn't cut the ninja fight, i would've given this movie a freakin'10 ...

That was actually THE fight i was looking for the most...Wolverine vs Ninja's, you seen it happened in the comics thousands of time and theyé finally put it in a film , and it lasted only about 2 minutes...

Yeah this the biggest dissapointment to me too, the end bit with the arrows in the back is awesome but it needed a bigger lead up to it.

Fingers crossed for that extended cut:argh:

The 65% on Rotten Tomatoes suggests otherwise.

It's really just critics and forumites who didn't like the movie.

I also felt Shingen should have been the final villain. The villains were not really memorable in this film. Well I guess just the Yakuza as a whole were the villains.

How bout BO wise? didn't origin sorta tanked after the first week?

There were stuff in the trailers with Logan fighting ninja that they didn't show in the movie...which is kinda dumb move by FOX.

Man..that would have been an amazing action scene...Logan in a Japanese village, fighting ninja from rooftops to rooftops...

Well, like you said, ultimately the Yakuza were the villain in this movie, that alone made it memorable to me.Wolverine minus healing power versus the Yakuza....

From my understanding, ALL the X-Men movies tank after their first week. None of the X-Men movies have had very good legs.

They open strong at the BO, do it up all big, fall off, and then sell well on DVD.

Well i was hoping that after first class and now the Wolverine, that trend would change..but ii guess that ain't happening soon, which is a shame. The franchise actually starting to get really good now, quality wise.

I think they missed a trick with Harada.

Maybe nobody will agree but after getting stabbed by Mariko instead of just switching sides and getting insta killed, he should have got uber p*ssed off at Logan as he wasnt going to get Mariko, grabbed the traditional SS armor as seen at the funeral and actually become the SS, leave the Robo-Samurai as just the mechsuit it was to keep Yashida alive, disposable, and then the REAL SS could have had a short mini fight with Logan before escaping /leaving and swearing revenge later.

Would have made Harada ten times more interesting and given us the proper SS I know I craved at least.

It annoyed me how quickly Harada switched sides. Cause it was heavily implied that he did it because of Mariko, wished that he would've stuck by his master.

Actually, Origins multiplier is worse by quite a wide margin too.

That would have been a much better scenario, yeah.

:highfive:

Those traditional SS armor shots were so teasing, I really wish when he dreams about the one attacking that had been a full blown fight, just wanted to see more of that.
