Let's think about this. Bryan brought back hackman's version of Lex for returns. Some like it for some reason, others wish he didn't. Well here's your chance to be heard. For the sequel, do you want lex to still be the underground criminal mastermind with an obsession with real-estate and dumb girlfriends or the Genius CEO of Lexcorp and possibly president of the USA some day?

Vote Away.

AS for how lex could be changed more to his modern comic version. Well anything's possible with vague history so we'll just assume the goofball version just never existed in this new version.

To me Clancy Brown played the best Lex ever to bad not in live action form.

Too true. He's amazing as Lex and would have been great in a movie.

Steven Vanderworth- already rich from a shipping fortune made by his great grandparents, used his business skill to expand the Vanderworth company into a vast international conglomerate. His wealth brought even more fame to Metropolis, and the city- including its newspaper, the Daily Planet- happily sang his praises.

There is also a newspaper with headlines such as:

VANDERWORTH TOPS THE FORTUNE 500!!

MR. VANDERWORTH IS PART OF THE ELITE WEALTHY

VANDERWORTH TRADITIONS OF CORPORATE SUCCESS LIVES ON

Guess who got the entire Vanderworth fortune? Yep, that's right- Lex Luthor.

Note: The above information comes 'Superman Returns: The Visual Guide'

Take that for what you will. Personally I think there is something here waiting for the sequel. Not 100% for sure, but the door was definitely left open for the possibility of a corporate Lex. So, for those wondering how that transition could be made- the seeds for that have already been planted in 'Superman Returns'... Vanderworth Corp.=Luthor Corp..... perhaps.

Who knows what will happen after he swims off that porkchop island. Maybe Kitty will drown. Anything's possible.

Lexcorp Lex with Spacey playing him again.

I want them to stick with Lex being played by Spacey so I didn't vote for Clancy. I wouldn't mind Lex using money and power to screw Superman over in future encounters, though. I also wouldn't mind seeing him develop Lexcorp, and s***, who knows? Maybe even President.

how about twisted businessman+ crooked politician + criminal genius sound? i mean to pull off the first two you gotta be smarter than the average crook innit?

CEO Lex. Now that he is rich as hell he can turn that wealth into LexCorp.

This lex COULD be part of lexcorp in some way if written well in a sequel, i could see that but I dont want anymore lex in superman.

Imagine that guy gets a company being a famous criminal lol there are ways i bet... indirectly.

Bingo. Lex to me can be a crazy real estate monger because I've always viewed the Donner version as an unpredicatable sociopath who happens to have an affinity for "beach front property." He was ready to drop California into the sea for real estate profit. In SR he was willing to dump the continental US into the drink just to rule and sell his own new continent. Having him use his wits to ascend to power wouldn't be that hard to put into a good story. The world, particularly America, is pretty gullible. I mean, we made Billy Ray Cyrus famous. If his mullet-sporting arse can get famous, Lex is a shoe-in for president. Besides, only Superman, Jason, and Lois could possibly finger Luthor. WHEN he gets back to the mainland, he's still running wild like Hulkamania.

So most wants Lex Corp and Clancy brown? (I don't really mean the actor, though i'd be fine if he was cast as lex)

I've been looking through youtube for some cool lex moments from different shows. I'll post them when I finish.

how would he turn int2 a business man now after already being known as a career criminal? it wouldnt work him being a criminal then people 4gettiun all and letting him run lex corp

It worked in the comics. He even became President after messing up the Daily Planet. Go figger. The public as a whole is usually pretty stupid (I live in America). With the right publicist, anyone can be a star. With the wrong one, you can be shelved overnight (ahem...Tom Cruise).

I'm thinking Lex turns people against Superman, like he's the cause for blame for the kryptonian threat (villain such as Zod or Braniac), maybe he'll spin a way that the kryptonian land was also a result of technology found in Superman's home, etc...that in part gets him elected as President. It will be kind of like Darth Sidious taking the republic. The public will think they are getting protection when really it's their truest threat running things.

Businessman AND super-scientist. Not just businessman (though that would at least be better than wig/land guy).

And a "criminal" only in the sense that he doesn't let the law get in his way... not a guy whose main business is crime. Lex shouldn't call himself a criminal.

I'm not one to hold up Smallville as a some great example of Superman done right (far from it, in many aspects)... but really, I want something along the lines of Lionel/Lex PLUS science-genius.

Actually lujho, your comments regarding the criminal aspect of Lex are said in detail on one of the TAS commentaries. Geez I think TAS did everything right :o

since lois Lane is gonna write a story about how she[and her son] was kidnapped buy Lex luthor, and how Lex was the one repsonsible for nearly destorying the world[and killing superman], i dun see Lex starting a business. The reason businessmna Lex worked st all, is that superman could never catch him in the act or crime. Thier was never any proof or eye witnesse, but thats down the drain as of kidnapping, attempted destruction of the world and superman and witness etc.

Oh and I'm the one person who voted for wigs and real-estate... just because I like to do that.

Michael Rosenbaum is the best live action Lex Luthor!!
