...so, why were the script reviews online generally all positive if you guys are insisting that it's so bad?

Keep in mind this is NOT based on the shooting draft, many things have been changed in the final draft.
SPOILERS
Action: These scenes are brutal, Castle pounds an enemy's nose into his skull, breaks a woman's neck, blows a thug in half, lots of brains fly out from headshots. Castle holds weapons and clears rooms like a soldier. The final action scene is like a battlefield, it's a true warzone. The Frank verses LBJ fight is exciting and has a disgustingly violent end that should shock audiences.
Characters & Dialog:
-Frank doesn't have any cheesy one-liners.
-His hideout isn't the sewers.
-Without getting sappy, the story makes you admire Frank yet still feel a great deal of pity for him. This is the one hero you don't fantasize about becoming one day.
-I'm confident the "Billy is dead, call me Jigsaw" line will work. Before the line's delivery, they throw us a symbolism scene as to why he'd name himself that, so its not random nonsense. Remember, Lexi Alexander said in her blog: "Dominic made Jigsaw so much more than he was on the page".
-Jigsaw and LBJ are badass villains, not pushovers
-The main characters are 3 dimensonal, they were all interesting.
-It never got boring, the pacing was nice and it felt like a big thrill ride.
-Some people complained the plot was predictable, I knew lots of info before reading yet I was still caught off gaurd with a few surprises. The build up for the action is done well, actually got my blood pumping a few times! The movie has a solid ending, I was more than satisfied.
I give it an 8/10, it's on par with Ennis on MAX. I've heard the shooting script has improved upon the version I read. I did have some minor complaints, but even if they aren't fixed this will still be a great movie.
I've only read one script review that was positive and one that was luke warm, the others weren't positive at all.
If this was the re-write of what came earlier, I understand why Jane left, it's cheesy and laughably over the top.
But, taste is subjective.

Perhaps it's the fact that she feels compelled to scream "THIS IS A COMIC BOOOOOK!" whilst swinging from the rafters...her cape flapping in the breeze...but the entire thing feels like it was written by someone whose only understanding of the world of comic books comes from watching the Adam West Batman - or, worse still - the Tim Burton Batman.
Man, you guys all read it, huh? I refuse to read it. Not only will things change and be cut from the film, but don't you guys want at least some surprises?![]()
wow, you guys read the script, so you know everything...
i think me and balthusdire may be the only 2 people on this planet who haven't read the script yet. what suprises? the WHOLE F'N MOVIE! you don't need a twist to be suprised and it totally devalues the film as a whole to have it completely spoiled like that...

Maybe it's just me, but knowing what all the action scenes will consist of would pretty much wreck the excitement and surprise for me; regardless of whether it looks a little different on screen than you imagine it.
I guess, it lower my expectations even more reading that Frank is pulling off a Matrix type move. I mean there is some ******ed **** in this script, if they were going for the balls out over the top type movie, I would've given some leeway with it, but they throw in this serious stuff that tries to make Frank a deep character* that seems completely out of place. They should have taken one route or the other, because the mixing of it does not work.
*And he is a deep character, if written properly. How it's written it seems like he's on the verge of tears in some scenes.
