Lex's War?

We all know Lex is now pretty damn close to being completely evil, but even so he still has sensible motivations behind everything he does. So what possible motivations could he have behind trying to start a war, as Oliver puts it in the trailer for Justice? Speculate away...

well, to a major corporation like luthorcorp war makes money. If lex made the meteor freaks rebel, it could cause a war. And he could supplie weaponary to the army to try and subdue them.

Somehow I doubt it's an actual war, with the government and the army and everything.

My thoughts are he's going to wage a war on someone - maybe a competitor (Oliver, maybe?).

That, or Ollie was speculating - why else would he have a bunch of Green K-folk locked up? Or maybe he was exaggerrating.

Those last two were -mostly- jokes.

I would assume that the war would be against the Kryptonians and he is experimenting on the freaks to sell them as weapons to the US Government. I realise that 33.1 was there before the alien threat but when it is first mentioned and MYx see's the place he is hardly frightened or even particulary shocked, which suggests that between then and now Lex has changed 33.1 proably because of the threat

You're probably right about that. Either Oliver is mistaken in some way or the "war" is referring to something else, like someone else posted, perhaps a company war. It wouldnt surprise me since they always use false advertising in the trailers for Smallville to make things seem more dire than they really are? Does anyone remember the 1st season when almost every week they would try to make it seem like Lex was going to the dark side?

Anyway, the reason I posed this question is b/c Smallville Lex isnt the type who's just "trying to take over the world," at least not yet. So if it is a literal war then there must be some strong motivations behind it, like say building an army in case of another alien invasion.

Very good point. I always wondered why Myx would react in awe like that if 33.1 was a place where they tortured and experimented on meteor freaks. Just adds another layer to Lex's progression to the dark side. Maybe 33.1 used to be a place where he helped them with their abilities.
