LFS on G4 iMac

Trying to use the Linux From Scratch Live CD, but this should pertain to any Distro using X11
I cant get any GUI to appear
ive tried xorgcfg/xorgconfig multiple times
the error I get is:
VESA(0): Cannot read V_BIOS (5)
Screens found, but none have a usable configuration

First of all
What the hell is a V BIOS
how do I fix this

I know this is a long shot, hopefully jag or somebody knows
A google search has told me that this happens only on macs (well thats all Ive seen so far)
