The Dark Knight Rises Lifting the Bat-Bells II: Bale's physique

Man, some people are really bored...:whatever:

While there is a little difference between Bale's frame from BB and TDK, it never bothered me. I never noticed it, after watching BB and TDK again(as I saw TDK before I saw BB). This is such a pointless detail in the context of the complexity of these movies. Besides, Bale still looked big in TDK, it's just that we never got a clear shot of him shirtless like we did in BB. His arms still looked just as big though(in that scene where he's stitching himself up and Alfred comes in). It's also feasible to assume that fighting crime for a whole year has made Batman shed a couple of pounds, which is not unreasonable.

His leaner look in TDK made him more agile. I believe that's what Nolan was going for during that time in TDK. I expect the same thing for TDKR.

Has the thought not occurred to people that Nolan probably requested he look like he did in TDK? Rescue Dawn completed filming over 2 years before TDK filming began (and was filmed in reverse order at that-meaning he was back to his full weight when filming ended).

Bale is going to look exactly like he did in TDK unless Nolan requests he weights xx more pounds than he did in TDK. It's not something Bale is going to do on his own. It sounds like Chris and Emma felt he was too large in Batman Begins. He barely had enough time to drop the weight needed to fit into the batsuit, but that doesn't mean he was the ideal size they had imagined.

I think you guys are going to be very disappointed if you are hoping he will be huge. He is scheduled to be filming the movie in China until the end of May. When exactly would he have time for any dramatic bulking up? He can't do it while he is filming-that would be very problematic for the producers of that film. If he needed to bulk up like he was in Batman Begins, I have a feeling he would have done it before he headed off to China for 3 months.

I personally like him bigger like he was in Begins. Batman to me should be a bigger, more intimidating figure, and in DK I really didnt feel that. But with Bane now involved, I feel Bale will stay around the same size he was in DK to make the contrast seem more clear. A Begins-sized Bale wouldn't be intimidated by a Bronson-sized Hardy IMO.

Isn't Bale getting in the BEST shape he's ever been in for TDKR? I heard that in an interview somewhere.

It was a made up tabloid article that claimed sources close to Bale-whatever that means-said he wanted to do that. Fake article

Bale himself hasn't said a word about his plans relating to TDKR prep.

 to these posts.

I don't want Batman looking too fat in his own Bat suit, like he did in some of the shots in Begins:

I agree. I think Bale has already proven a couple of times that he has the dedication to change his body if it is required by the role or requested by the director/producer. Nolan would've alerted him already if he felt that Bale should look a certain way (like how he alerted Hardy). He hasn't worked since Aug 09 (when The Fighter finished filming) so if Nolan asked him to bulk up, he would've done so already. I prefer his BB body (specially in the 2nd act) but I fully expect him to look like he was in TDK or maybe even leaner (to make the contrast with Hardy's built even more obvious).

I do hope he goes back to begins weight. He just looked "Ill" in TDK
That is pure hyperbole. He did not look sickly in TDK, even though he wasn't quite as big as he was in Begins. Honestly the different is exaggerated, it probably wasn't more than 10 pounds. Bale could stand to be more muscular than he was in the last movie, but honestly he was a little too big in Begins, at least with that suit.

Bale took his shirt off in TDK and he was very big.

Bale was smaller in TDK, but I dare say he was in better physical shape than he was in Batman Begins. He just had more fat on him in BB. Bigger size doesn't = more strength.

I would like to see him in American Psycho shape. so not as huge as he was in Begins, but a bit bigger than TDK

his frame a little smaller than in "Begins"
Your frame can't get bigger or smaller. That's the point of your frame. It determines your body shape, and you can change your appearance by gaining or losing weight, but your frame determines what that weight looks like.

Nolan actually said that Bale put too much weight on in Begins. And people forget, before Begins, Bale was in The Machinist. And he only had a little time to put weight on before the shooting of Begins.

People are whining too much about this. I don't really care about this subject.

Well for BB He bulked up and then started losing weight but for me the scene were he wakes up and drops to do push ups is the right size for him, he had a good balance between muscle mass and definition.

The closer to BB he can get the better. He wasn't ill looking in TDK, as some have said, but he did look pretty thin. For a guy that relies solely on his strength and speed he didn't look convincing enough in Dark Knight.

He needs to go back to his BB weight. At least that's what I want...He did look too "thin" in TDK, altough they probably wanted him to look that way.
