What would you say are things that you like but also dislike about comic book movies in general?

like:
the potential to be quality filmmaking in general cinema
most casting decisions

dislike:
-the potential (and sometimes expected to be) cheesy cinema
-the idea that everything has to be darker and grittier
-that look overcomes talent all too often from producers and fanboys

I like when they are taken seriously by studios and are given the cast and crew they deserve...

I dislike studio influence and hearing fans trying to cast roles.

I like seeing some of my favorite characters, stemming from childhood, brought to life in a vivid fashion. The same goes for their stories, interactions and the like. Having it play out on screen, in live action, is a true spectacle.

I dislike when these properties are dumbed down or half assed in a transparent attempt to make a buck or because some Hollywood suit feels the need to be an 'artiste'.

Dislikes
-The "Vader Syndrome". That somehow the hero is related to the villain or force to become a hero due to the villain's actions in the past. Its has become a cliche like they are some weird brothers. example Batman and Jack Napier, Daredevil and Kingpin.Fantastic four the list goes on.
-That look overcomes talent all too often from producers and fanboys( in full agreement with Cererlkiller)

Likes
-The interpretation of childhood heroes to another medium
-That full recognizable Hero for the 1st time
-That moment when the hero wins against insurmountable odds and prevails
example saving that freakin Train in Spidey 2.
-That they dont "stick exactly by order of death to the comic book." I don't mind artistic
license as long as it's for the better,( look at toad in X2) cause sometime things don't translate
well

Can't forget Spider-Man and Sandman... God that was awful.

I dislike when they stray either too far into realism or too far into fantasy. The books themselves are basically still cartoon pictures, so you can have a lot of **** going on. On the other hand it isn't the real world either, so grounding it TOO much comes off as lazy.

Would you guys have been ok had we ended up with a skinny 5'7 Latino Superman? There has to be at least an effort to getting the actor to look like the character.

^ hmmmm cant we get both? why settle? I see it mentioned on here about alot of wrestling personalities portraying comic heroes. They might look the part ,but i sincerely doubt they can act the part.I would past on any flick having Triple H with a wing helmet speaking old English throwing a hammer.
Christian Bale, Robert Downey jr. Hugh Jackman ( that's where that artistic license thing comes into play i was talking about, cause i didn't mind he wasn't 5'3"), Christopher Reeve all look the part and acted the part. I don't want to see someone who just looks like their comic book counterpart, but can't act in a high school play.

You over exaggerating. I dont want pro wrestlers playing superheroes
