Tom Cruise next will star in Lions for Lambs, a Robert Redford-directed drama that will co-star Redford and Meryl Streep.

The movie will be Cruise's first outing for United Artists since he and C/W partner Paula Wagner agreed to revive the company for Harry Sloan's MGM.

"Lambs" is a Matthew Carnahan-scripted drama that consists of three interconnected storylines: Cruise as a congressman who interacts with a journalist (Streep); Redford as an idealistic professor who attempts to inspire a privileged student in his class; and a third storyline about a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory, one of whom is Redford's former student.

United Artists is financing the film. Production will begin early next year for a possible fall 2007 release.

I like the sound of this,it gives me a vibe of Syrinna:up:

Pena Joins Cruise in Lions for Lambs
Source: Variety
January 18, 2007

Michael Pena has joined Lions for Lambs, the Robert Redford-directed drama that marks the first film for United Artists since Tom Cruise and C/W partner Paula Wagner signed on to revive the company for Harry Sloan's MGM.

Variety says Pena will play an Army Ranger lieutenant and platoon leader in Afghanistan, and he and his men become the catalyst for multiple overlapping storylines.

Cruise, Meryl Streep and Redford also star in the drama.

I can imagine a half deaf guy being told that the customer wants to watch this film.

Customer: Can I see Lions for Lambs please.

half deaf guy: Silence of the lambs?

Customer: No lions for lambs, PLEASE.

Cruising With The Lions
Tom Cruise has been back in front of the (movie) cameras this week, as principal photography began on Lions For Lambs. Joined by Meryl Streep and director Robert Redford, this multi-continent, plot-weaving drama has been shooting for less than an month, but Cruise’s return to the world of staunch political cinema – one he hasn’t visited since 1989’s Born On The Fourth Of July – is already getting tongues a-wagging. But with a US release date of November 9, it’s going to be a long time before we see whether Redford’s take on America’s War On Terror will push The World’s Biggest Movie Star™ into some exciting, uncharted waters.

I hope it isn't like Syrianna. Talk about a movie that tries to hard to tell a rather simple story.

nice.. sounds like a solid movie

I like the sound of the story but didn't read the spoiler parts

First pic of Redford and Streep on set. Unfortunately it's a pretty small pic

Yesterday was the last day of Cinema Expo at the Rai in Amsterdam. Before seeing Ocean's 13 and Transformers i stopped by there myself to check it out (but couldn't get in).Lots (i mean tons) of cool billboards and posters were on display outside though. Many of which i haven't seen online incl one for Lions For Lambs. Cruise was also there hours later to promote the movie that evening. I wish i had known before hand.:cmad:

Heres a video of his appearance and some pics. A reporter gave him a few pairs of clogs one for (i assume) himself and his daughter.:woot:

Interesting....most of it focuses on Tom and Meryl arguing about going to war in Iraq and the war on terror. There's glimpses of Redford talking to what looked like his student. Not to sure about the music choice I couldn't hear it to well.
